Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation, filing, and payment of all national and local tax returns (e.g., Corporate Income Tax, Value-Added Tax, Withholding Taxes, Percentage Tax, Documentary Stamp Tax, Local Business Tax, Annual Registration Fee).
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance activities.
- Maintain organized and audit-ready records of all tax documents, filings, and correspondences.
- Manage relationships and correspondences with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Local Government Units (LGUs).
- Review and ensure accurate calculation of current and deferred tax provisions in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
- Oversee the reconciliation of all tax-related general ledger accounts.
- Provide support for the financial reporting process related to tax disclosures in audited financial statements.
- Act as the primary point of contact and lead all BIR and LGU tax audits, investigations, and inquiries.
- Prepare and organize all required documentation for tax audits.
- Develop strategies and represent the company in resolving tax assessments, disputes, and litigations in coordination with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Proactively identify, research, and implement opportunities for legitimate tax savings and efficiency improvements.
- Monitor changes in Philippine tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and assess their impact on the business.
- Provide practical and compliant tax advice to the CFO and management on new business initiatives, product launches, and corporate structuring.
- Advise on the tax implications of marketing promotions, dealer/partner agreements, and customer financing contracts.
Process Improvement & Team Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and improve internal tax policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risk.
- Train and mentor accounting and finance staff on tax compliance matters.
- Liaise with external tax consultants and auditors as required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy. Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Philippines.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant tax experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role. Prior experience in the financial services, banking, fintech, or consumer finance industry is highly preferred. Experience with an auditing firm (Big 4 is a plus) and a multinational or large local corporation is advantageous.
- Expert knowledge of the Philippine Tax Code (National Internal Revenue Code), BIR regulations, and local tax ordinances.
- Strong understanding of PFRS, particularly pertaining to income taxes.
- Experience with tax compliance software and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite) is an advantage.
- Exceptionally detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to non-specialists.
