Job Description

As a Systems Integration Engineer/Systems Integrator at OTTO By Rockwell Automation, you will be a part of the Systems Engineering (SE) team who works with our Project Management team within our professional services organization to deliver value to our end-users, channel partners, and OTTO. SEs design and implement fleets of OTTO autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and software at our customer facilities. In addition, the SE team delivers training to our integration partners and end-users, and evaluates use cases to establish guidelines, standards, and best practices for how OTTO Motors products can be used by the market, specifically by our integrator network. Furthermore, the SE team is a major contributor to defining our product requirements and is a major influencer of our product roadmap. This is a remote-based role; however, you may need to access the OTTO facility for specific workshops or testing as and when needed, hence the position will require frequent on-site visits in Kitchener, ON. Therefore, you should either reside in Kitchener area or be willing to relocate to support the requirements. You will report to Systems Engineering Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • commissioning and integration of AMR systems at client facilities throughout the world; this includes traveling to customer or integration partner facility for on-site deployment and integration with facility side automation equipment

  • support detailed solutions design of AMR systems using OTTO by Rockwell Automation products to meet the customer requirements; this includes workflow design, attachment design, map design and development/modification middle layer software logic using Ignition OPC/UA, FT Optix and/or PLC logic design and modification

  • Author and execute acceptance test plans for validation of system functionality and performance;

  • Optimize system performance through analysis, simulation, and experimentation;

  • Project planning for the deliverables and work packages you own;

  • Communicate technical details and status to the customer and broader project team;

  • Consult with integration partners on all of the above

  • Deliver training to integration partners and end-users

  • Troubleshoot software & hardware technical issues using internal tools available; solve new and challenging technical problems related to the above

  • Author new product requirements based on the lessons learned from your design and commissioning activities;

  • Work with the systems engineering team to improve department tools, processes, and working relationships with other departments;

  • Provide Tier-3 advanced technical support to customers, partners, and internal teams.

  • Offer after-business-hours rotational on-call escalation support.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • Ability to travel for business within North America, Europe and Asia; ~50 - 60 % travel

  • A valid full drivers licence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience including experience commissioning and integrating industrial automated equipment or software that interfaces to the equipment

  • Experience with AMR/AGV systems integration and Linux.

  • experience working directly with clients/end-users

  • PLC design and integration experience.

  • Train users of automated equipment/software

  • Author and modify software code (python, C++, or other)

  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition OPC/UA software and/or FT Optix

For this role, the total target compensation is from $79,440.00 - $119,160.00 CAD Annual. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
