System Integration Engineer
Location: Toronto, Ontario – Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Project

Trillium Rail Partners (TRP) is delivering the Design, Build and Finance (DBF) scope of Metrolinx’s Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) — a 9.2-km light rail transit (LRT) extension featuring seven new stations, elevated guideways, and tunnels linking Mount Dennis to Renforth Drive.
The project brings together leading expertise in civil, systems, and rail integration to deliver a safe, reliable, and high-performance LRT system for the Greater Toronto Area.

Role Overview
The System Integration Engineer supports the overall coordination, planning, and execution of systems integration activities across all rail systems — including signaling, traction power, overhead catenary, communications, SCADA, and related civil interfaces.
Reporting to the System Integration and Interface Manager, this role ensures all systems and subsystems work together as one integrated, safe, and operable transit system through all project phases — from design through testing, commissioning, and handover.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the System Integration and V&V (Verification & Validation) Plan.

  • Coordinate technical integration activities across multiple rail systems and civil teams.

  • Manage and maintain the System Architecture and system hierarchy (functional, logical, and physical).

  • Track and verify system and subsystem requirements; maintain traceability through design and test phases.

  • Review system design deliverables to ensure alignment with interface and integration requirements.

  • Support integration reviews, readiness assessments, and multi-disciplinary coordination meetings.

  • Participate in system-level testing, commissioning, and trial operations.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the System Integration Schedule and deliverable register.

  • Support management of integration issues, risks, and change requests.

  • Contribute to safety, reliability, and maintainability reviews (RAMS).

  • Ensure configuration and documentation control for all system integration deliverables.

  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related Engineering discipline is preferred.

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in systems integration for rail, transit, or large infrastructure projects is preferred.

  • Experience working in multi-system environments (signaling, communications, traction power, SCADA, etc.).

  • Knowledge of systems engineering and integration processes (e.g., ISO/IEC 15288, CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129).

  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, ReqIF, or similar).

  • Familiarity with Design-Build or P3 project delivery models (asset).

  • Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to interpret and review technical documents, design drawings, and test plans.

  • Commitment to safety, collaboration, and quality delivery.
