Computer Methods International Corp. (CMiC) is a Software Development firm specializing in enterprise financial and cost management systems designed for the Construction and Engineering industries.
About the Role
We are looking for a Systems Administrator and Support Engineer who thrives at the intersection of end-user support and cloud infrastructure. In this hybrid role, you will be the go-to problem solver for our team, keeping desktops running smoothly, cloud platforms secure, and users productive. If you enjoy variety in your day, take pride in clean documentation, and get genuine satisfaction from making technology work well for people, we would love to hear from you.
This is a hands-on position with real ownership. You will work on everything from a stuck laptop on someone's desk to identity policies in Entra ID, and you will have the freedom to suggest improvements as you spot them.
Important Information:
- The overall hiring salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 annually.
- This position is for an existing vacancy
- We do not use AI to screen, assess, or select applicants
Responsibilities
Desktop and End User Support (around 60 per cent)
You will be the first line of defence for technical issues across the company. That means diagnosing hardware faults, software glitches, and the occasional “it was working yesterday” mystery. Day to day, you will:
- Resolve technical issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments with patience and precision.
- Set up, configure, and maintain workstations, peripherals, and enterprise applications for new and existing employees.
- Onboard and offboard users, including provisioning Microsoft 365 licenses and managing user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
- Coach users through cloud productivity tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint so they get real value from them.
- Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory and plan upgrades, replacements, and end-of-life transitions before they become urgent.
- Track and resolve tickets through the service desk system, keeping users in the loop along the way.
Systems Administration and Cloud Support (around 40 per cent)
When you are not directly supporting users, you will be strengthening the systems behind the scenes:
- Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure for uptime, performance, and security.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune, including policies, configurations, and lifecycle management.
- Apply system updates, patches, and backup routines on a regular cadence.
- Support identity and access management, multi-factor authentication, conditional access, and compliance configurations.
- Partner with the security team on endpoint protection, including Microsoft Defender and EDR tooling.
- Investigate and respond to alerts from security and monitoring platforms.
- Write and maintain clear documentation for procedures, runbooks, and IT policies so the next person, or future you, is not starting from scratch.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a closely related role.
- Comfortable working across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune, including managing user lifecycles, group policies, and access controls.
- Solid grasp of core networking, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, VLANs, and how the pieces fit together.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts across hardware, software, and cloud environments.
- Familiarity with endpoint security concepts such as Microsoft Defender, EDR, and SIEM.
- Clear communicator in writing and in conversation, able to explain a technical issue to a finance leader and a developer with equal clarity.
Nice to Have
- ITIL or similar IT service management framework experience.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified, or Oracle Cloud Practitioner.
- Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automating routine tasks.
- Exposure to additional cloud platforms like AWS, or experience administering SaaS tools at scale.
How You Work
You stay calm under pressure and genuinely enjoy helping people, even on their worst tech day. You document as you go because you have been on the receiving end of bad documentation. You balance independent deep work with collaborative team projects. You notice patterns and suggest fixes rather than solving the same problem over and over. You are curious about new technology and eager to grow your skills.
What We Offer
- Hybrid and remote-friendly flexibility so you can do your best work where you work best.
- A real budget and real time set aside for professional development, including cloud certifications.
- A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- A collaborative team with exposure to modern cloud and security tooling.
- Visibility across the business and the autonomy to shape how IT operates here.
How to Apply
If this sounds like the kind of role you have been waiting for, we would love to hear from you. Tell us about a problem you solved recently that you are proud of, and what you would want to tackle in your first few months on the job.
Benefits
- Competitive benefits Package (including Health & Dental benefits)
- Paid vacation and personal days
- Townhall meetings where all employees are encouraged to participate in open discussions
- Located on York University’s campus, easily accessible by transit (TTC, GO, etc.), walking distance to shopping and restaurants
- Outdoor lunch space, including picnic tables
- An active Social Events Committee (past events include annual seasonal parties, pool and bowling tournaments, karaoke nights, Game nights, BBQ’s, and more)
- Health and Wellness focus including virtual yoga classes and wellness webinars
- RRSP Matching Program after 2 years of employment
- Experience in a rapidly growing, socially responsible corporation
