The Opportunity

TC Energy is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Security Designer to join the Network Design and Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust security architectures and solutions to protect our organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of network security principles, best practices, and emerging threats, as well as a strong ability to think strategically and innovate.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to gather requirements and design security solutions that address business needs while mitigating risks.
  • Evaluate and recommend security technologies, tools, and practices to enhance the organization's security posture.
  • Ensure that security design principles are integrated into the network infrastructure from inception to deployment.
  • Deploy and configure network security devices such as firewalls, threat detection systems, VPNs, and other related technologies.
  • Identify and assess potential security risks and vulnerabilities within the network infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of security threats.
  • Participate in risk assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to address security findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Writing and maintaining Python scripts for network automation and management tasks.
  • Automating network operations to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilizing experience with relevant tools and frameworks
  • Design, implement and manage Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technologies
  • Planning, designing, and operating both SASE and Zero Trust technologies
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in network security design and implementation.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of network security protocols, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing security devices such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and access control systems.
  • Experience with security technologies such as SIEM, DLP, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.), automation tools and frameworks, and their security implications.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA and control applications in an industrial networking environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud security practices and solutions (AWS, Azure, SaaS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work quality.
