We are currently expanding our Property and Casualty in-house legal department and have short term summer opportunities for Law Students in our Aurora, Toronto, and/or Mississauga offices. As a summer law student this is an exciting opportunity to learn from, and assist, our experienced insurance defence litigators through legal research and preparing legal memoranda, drafting legal documents, shadowing litigation attendances, and other general support to the legal team.

What you bring to the table

Bachelor's degree in a related field
-
A minimum of one year of relevant experience

Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

Currently enrolled in accredited program to obtain a law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from a Canadian University or equivalency towards obtain National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) Certificate of Qualification standing post graduation.

Strong knowledge in legal research and computer literacy

Strong knowledge and interest in civil litigation and advocacy

Strong knowledge and interest in insurance law

Strong knowledge in word processing and legal research using web-based services

Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
