Location: Toronto, Canada

About Solen Software Group
Solen Software Group is an evergreen holding company that acquires and operates proven software businesses that have significant growth potential in a variety of vertical markets, enabling them to be market leaders in their niche industry. Solen owns several software companies in various market spaces: Human Resource Technology, Fleet Telematics, Asset Management,  E-Health, Document Management, and other innovative software solutions in a variety of industries. Solen is backed by a group of advisors and investors that have built software businesses of material scale (10-100M in ARR) and advised many.
About the role
At Solen, it’s Day 1 of a decades-long journey. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to join a fast-paced software consolidator with a significant growth trajectory. As the strategic right hand to the Group Finance Director, you will combine technical finance acumen with business operations to architect the financial engine of the firm. You will lead the financial planning, budgeting, and analysis for a portfolio of high-quality software businesses while playing a critical role in the integration of new acquisitions.
Driving financial clarity across a decentralized portfolio of software companies is rigorous work. It requires forensic precision, the ability to build models from scratch, and the judgment to separate signal from noise immediately.

This is not a role with training wheels or a long ramp period. It is a seat for a builder who understands the 'physics' of SaaS and is ready to construct a data-driven compounding machine right away. You must be comfortable with ambiguity and imperfect data, possessing the grit to impose order where it doesn't yet exist.

What Success Looks Like

  • Drive Business Rhythm: Finance will drive the cadence and rhythm for all compensation calculations across the portfolio.
  • Empower Operators: Ensure actionable insights are provided to operators to facilitate continuous business improvements.
  • Disciplined Forecasting: Establish and maintain reliable, documented, and disciplined execution for all forecasting and budgeting cycles.
  • Fortify the Firm: Implement and maintain sufficient controls to ensure no fraudulent activities occur within the organization.
  • Visualize Performance: Provide clear, real-time visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs) for all operating companies.

Key Responsabilities

  • Strategic Reporting: Lead Monthly (MBR) and Quarterly (QBR) Business Reviews by presenting key financial findings and SaaS metrics to operating executives.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budget and rolling forecast cycles, creating new financial roadmaps for newly acquired entities.
  • Operational Analysis: Contribute to performance through detailed budget-to-actual analysis and expense insights that drive decision-making.
  • M&A Integration: Lead the financial integration of acquisitions, implementing initiatives identified during the M&A process and documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Diligence Support: Assist in the internal Quality of Earnings (QoE) process for targets by performing rigorous financial diligence.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Business-Minded Storyteller: You are more than just analytical; you are a business-minded storyteller with excellent communication skills.
  • Execution Specialist: You are hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrive when rolling up your sleeves to execute a gameplan.
  • Technical Mastery: You have 5+ years of FP&A experience with deep knowledge of SaaS metrics (ARR, Churn, CAC) and GAAP/IFRS principles.
  • System Savvy: Experience with Sage Intacct or QuickBooks is a strong asset for integrating new acquisitions into our ecosystem.
  • High Integrity: You are a trustworthy partner capable of handling sensitive information with absolute discretion.
  • Entrepreneurial Grit: You possess a 'builder' mindset rather than an 'asset manager' mentality.

The successful candidate will work from one of Solen's offices in Toronto.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
