The Golf team at Lightspeed develops a feature rich management suite for golf courses (and beyond!) along with integrations that plug in to the greater Lightspeed ecosystem.  Golf is part of the broader Services group that focuses on providing foundational core offerings across the Lightspeed product portfolio.

As a Staff Software Developer, you will bring technical leadership to your team & the overall organization. With strong technical expertise in building scalable & resilient systems & a passion for mentoring others, you will take an active role in leading your team to successfully land key initiatives. You will also help evolve team processes in all facets of development - idea to delivery, production operations, etc. 

Most important of all, you’ll work alongside a great team within a growing department that is focused on breaking down barriers, streamlining solutions and delivering value for our customers. 

What you'll be responsible for

  • Drive technical direction and design on your team. Contribute towards enabling timely delivery of key initiatives on the roadmap, with minimal supervision 
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations & other functions/teams to align the relevant stakeholders
  • Decomposing high level requirements into development tasks and work items for delegation
  • Evolving the technical architecture for the systems your team owns.
  • Partnering with other technical leaders across the organization to evolve the overall technical ecosystem
  • Bringing a strong commitment to engineering excellence spanning areas like code quality, observability, reliability and maintainability among others 
  • Initiating and contributing to continuous improvement of our software delivery processes and practices
  • Mentoring your team members and identifying and encouraging areas of growth and career development
  • Participating in finding top talent for your team and the organization

What you’ll be bringing to the team

  • Expertise in engineering and computer science fundamentals
  • Experience developing scalable, reliable applications on the cloud (we use GCP & AWS).
  • Expert programming skills in Ruby, TypeScript or Javascript.  Our current tech stack is Ruby on Rails, TS/JS, React & Angular.
  • Experience leading multi-quarter, cross team initiatives and feature work from design to production deployment
  • Strong sense of ownership, willingness to take informed risks and champion a blame-free culture
  • Curiosity and a deep desire for continuous learning
  • An ability to see the forest from the trees
