About Parallelz

Parallelz turns mobile apps and games into web-native experiences that run instantly in the browser, anywhere, with no changes to their code and no app store in between. We are using this technology to transform how people discover and play mobile games across the open web, meeting players in the places they already spend their time. Games on our platform already run inside partner experiences, and we are building the discovery products that will bring them to a far wider audience.

AI is central to how we work. Every engineer pairs with capable agents, and agentic workflows run through how we triage, build, review, ship and operate. Our team and advisors include technologists from Google, Mozilla and MIT Media Lab, and we are backed by global venture funds and angel investors.

About the Role

As Staff Product Engineer, you will translate our core technology into the web-based products where players discover and engage with games, and where partners extend them to their audiences. You will hold end-to-end ownership of the products you lead, from initial concept through to their performance in market, and partner closely with our leadership team to shape both product direction and engineering approach.

The role is hands-on from the outset. You will define requirements and scope from open-ended briefs, deliver production-ready products and drive their continuous improvement after launch. As the business scales, you will recruit, develop and lead the engineers who join this effort, while remaining an active contributor to the build.

We place a high value on in-person collaboration; this role is based in our downtown Toronto office three or more days per week.

What You'll Do

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the products you lead, from brief through implementation, integration, testing, rollout and iteration across frontend, backend, APIs, data and partner integrations.
  • Make practical architecture decisions for the web client and application services, and work with our core technology team to turn platform capabilities into polished, responsive experiences.
  • Design and own the cloud foundations and production operations behind our products: infrastructure as code, environments, fast build and release pipelines, observability, capacity and cost, with dependable rollback and recovery.
  • Set clear performance budgets and release criteria, keep every experience responsive and reliable across devices and browsers, and remove bottlenecks as usage grows.
  • Build instrumentation, experimentation and rollout controls into the product so the team can trust the data, measure impact and learn from every release.
  • Build the agent workflows, tools and shared foundations the team relies on, with clear quality checks and human accountability, and keep them current as the field moves.

Requirements

What you bring:

  • 10+ years building and shipping software, including taking a product from launch to tens of thousands of users.
  • Strong full-stack judgment across modern web clients, backend services, APIs, data and cloud infrastructure, with the depth to diagnose difficult production issues and review code with care.
  • AI-first development as your default way of working, with multi-agent workflows you have designed, refined over time and shared with your team.
  • Comfort turning an open-ended brief into requirements, clear trade-offs and a shipped product, following through after launch and bringing new ideas forward on your own initiative.
  • Experience helping a small team work more effectively, and interest in recruiting, coaching and leading engineers while continuing to build.
  • Strong product instincts and care for the details that make an experience feel fast, clear and enjoyable.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Depth in graphics and web platform technologies such as WebGL, WebGPU, WebAssembly or WebRTC, browser or mobile platform internals, or performance-critical C/C++.
  • Ad tech, monetization or mobile SDK experience, ideally across partner integrations.
  • Building gaming or real-time interactive experiences, from consumer games to game distribution and discovery platforms.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Group Retirement Savings Plan matching
  • Health, dental and vision coverage, including a Health and Wellness spending account
  • Generous time off
  • Access to leading AI tools and platforms
