Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced Senior Front-End Developer with a strong expertise in React.js to join our dynamic technology team. In this role, candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining responsive, user-friendly web applications that meet banking security standards and deliver exceptional user experiences. Candidate will collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, backend teams, and compliance officers to build secure, scalable, and innovative financial services applications.

Additional Information* 

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.  In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React.js and related frontend technologies.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to transform design prototypes into fully functional, pixel-perfect web applications.
  • Integrate frontend components seamlessly with backend APIs while ensuring data security, integrity, and high performance.
  • Implement UI/UX best practices, including accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design principles.
  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality, bug-free deliverables.
  • Work collaboratively with backend teams to integrate services securely and efficiently.
  • Stay current with emerging frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends; propose innovative solutions.
  • Adhere to banking security standards, data privacy regulations, and compliance requirements in all development activities.
  • Document code, technical specifications, and implementation guidelines for transparency and future maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of front-end development experience, with a demonstrated focus on React.js.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and related frontend technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with state management libraries such as Redux or Context API.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON data handling, and data integration techniques.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and data protection standards relevant to banking and financial applications.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Deep understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles, accessibility standards, and best practices for user-centered design.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience developing banking, financial services, or enterprise-scale applications.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript for type-safe JavaScript development.
  • Experience working with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest or Enzyme.
  • Knowledge of cloud deployment environments like Azure or AWS.
  • Understanding of banking compliance standards such as PSD2, GDPR, and other relevant data privacy and security regulations.
