About the team and the role:The Advertising team builds products that help sellers grow their businesses while creating more relevant, useful experiences for buyers. Our work sits at the intersection of commerce, data, and performance marketing—turning high-intent marketplace moments into advertising opportunities that perform for advertisers and feel native to the eBay experience.
As a Senior Technical Program Manager in Ads, you will lead complex, high-impact programs end to end across this space. You’ll work across both advertiser and buyer experiences, and full-stack systems—front end, services, data, and platform capabilities—and have a significant impact on driving Ads revenue and business outcomes. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Design, Product Marketing, and Sales to ensure advertiser needs are reflected in both the experience and the systems behind it. You’ll bring structure, visibility, and momentum to execution, and serve as a trusted point of coordination across teams.
This role requires strong program leadership, product intuition, and comfort working across full-stack engineering and data systems. You don’t need to write code, but you should be fluent in the technical landscape and able to connect advertiser needs, user experience, delivery plans, and Ads business metrics into cohesive programs.
What you’ll accomplish:Own large Ads programs and lines of business from concept through launch, with accountability for overall success, execution, delivery, and business outcomes.
Partner closely with Product to shape and refine roadmaps based on business priorities, customer needs, and platform opportunities.
Work fluidly across Engineering, UX, and Product Marketing, helping teams align around strategy, tradeoffs, timing, and go-to-market readiness.
Partner with engineering teams not only to deliver, but also to assess dependencies, oversee testing, and improve scalability, reliability, and operational readiness.
Help shape the experiences for both advertisers and buyers so Ads drive performance while feeling relevant and native within the eBay journey.
Translate user problems into features and platform functions built to scale across products, experiences, and use cases.
Serve as the connective tissue across teams by driving clear plans, managing risks and dependencies, and keeping execution moving with visibility and accountability.
8–10 years in technical program management leading complex, cross-functional initiatives, including at least 3–5 years in ads or ad tech.
Formal program management background, with a strong track record of shipping end user-facing products and platform capabilities that drive measurable impact for both users and the business.
The ability to move comfortably between technical conversations with engineers and strategic discussions with UX, Product Marketing, leadership, and other cross-functional partners.
Strong user, technical, and business intuition, with the ability to understand challenges, identify the right opportunities, and translate them into well-scoped, scalable solutions.
Excellent program management skills, including planning, scoping, dependency management, risk management, structured execution, and process optimization.
Strong communication and influence skills, with the judgment to drive alignment, surface tradeoffs clearly, and keep senior stakeholders informed without creating noise.
A calm, steady presence in ambiguous or fast paced situations, with the ability to bring order to complexity and keep teams focused.
An owner mentality, systems-thinking approach, and a collaborative style—plus a sense of humor and the resilience to see uncertainty as a challenge worth solving.
Background in ecommerce is strongly valued, especially where it helps connect marketplace dynamics, customer needs, and advertising opportunities.
Familiarity with tools such as Airtable and Claude Code to improve efficiency, increase visibility, and reduce operational overhead.
