About the team and the role:

The Core Buyer Experience team sits at the heart of eBay, shaping how hundreds of millions of people discover, evaluate, and connect around the things they love. As eBay evolves the future of commerce, this team plays a critical role in designing intelligent, personalized, and emotionally resonant shopping experiences that go beyond the transactional.

As a Senior Staff Product Designer, you’ll work end-to-end across the buyer journey, identifying where intelligent, personalized, and AI-driven experiences can solve customer problems and create delight. This is a deeply hands-on role that blends strategy with exceptional craft: you’ll translate bold ideas into innovative design solutions, systems, and high-fidelity prototypes that set direction for execution across teams. With close partnership with senior product and engineering leaders, and the opportunity to work at extensive scale, this role offers a rare chance to shape category-defining experiences and help design what the next era of commerce looks like.

What you will accomplish:

  • Set experience direction for complex, cross-cutting buyer initiatives, identifying where AI capabilities can materially improve the buyer experience.

  • Have the ability to rapidly iterate on and improve existing features while also defining and working toward a broader, end-to-end, long-term vision.

  • Lead design for high-impact problem spaces, moving fluidly from concept to high-fidelity execution and prototyping to drive clarity, momentum, and confident decision-making.

  • Influence product and engineering strategy by partnering at a senior level, helping frame problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and align teams around a shared experience vision.

  • Drive coherence across surfaces and teams by connecting work into durable experience systems, patterns, and principles that scale beyond a single feature or roadmap.

  • Elevate design quality across the organization by modelling exceptional craft, mentoring senior designers, and shaping how strong execution shows up in complex, fast paced environments.

What you will bring:

  • 12+ years of product design experience, including significant time operating as a senior individual contributor on complex, multi-surface or platform-scale products.

  • Proven ability to lead design for ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces—setting direction, influencing strategy, and delivering high-quality execution without relying on formal authority.

  • Exceptional design craft and execution skills, with a strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, interaction design, and the ability to produce high-fidelity designs and prototypes that drive product decisions.

  • Experience designing intelligent, data-informed,  AI-enabled experiences, with the ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, intuitive user experiences.

  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills, with a track record of collaborating closely with senior product and engineering leaders to shape roadmaps and deliver outcomes at scale.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to articulate design rationale, align partners, and influence decisions across teams and organizational boundaries.
