The Senior Production Manager leads the daily operation of multiple production shifts of a large facility (or facilities) with responsibility for interacting with Planning, Purchasing, Materials, Ops Engineering, Quality, Facilities and other departments to achieve maximum quality and cost effectiveness in an on-time and efficient manner. The scope of ownership includes various manufacturing processes (i.e.. Multi site, vertical integration, multiple product lines, etc.).

Success in this role is defined by daily order execution, workforce flexibility, employee onboarding, productivity/efficiency, sequencing, process adherence, and training/development in production. This will be measured by ongoing improvements in driving quality, schedule attainment, Safety, and productivity/efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience: Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology or 8 years of related experience in operations

  • 10+ years previous supervisory experience

  • Experience leading a major cross-functional project that included managing resources, implementing project plans and timelines, identifying and removing roadblocks, implementation of improved product lines

  • Previous multi-site management responsibility and / or experience managing multiple different product lines.

  • Experience in make to stock / make to order. o Fluent English Written/Verbal

  • ERP/MRP Experience: SAP, Oracle or JD Edwards

  • Demand Driven Fulfillment Principles

  • Strong Problem Solving Skills

  • Strong Coaching/Mentoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads all facets of supervision including workforce flexibility, staffing, employee onboarding and training/development, to include cross-training.

  • Leads all aspects of a section (or sections) of the total plant by establishing goals and objectives for the business and manages the assets assigned to that value stream (people and equipment).

  • Ensures that key responsibilities are optimized, such as, daily order execution, productivity/efficiency, sequencing, and process adherence. This will be measured by ongoing improvements in driving quality, Safety, and productivity/efficiency

  • Works closely with Planning, Purchasing and Materials Management and their teams to achieve SMART goals and KPI’s.

  • Develops and challenges resources to improve performance through systems utilization and process improvements.

  • Coaches and mentors his/her production team to improve engagement with local technical/commercial stakeholders and to establish communication channels between the cross functional teams.

  • Ensures a safe work place is provided for all employees. Implements and executes frequent department safety inspections and assures the accurate completion of all accident reports.

  • Interviews, hires, and monitors the performance of employees for assigned areas; reviews and evaluates their needs and potential; develops appropriate cross-training programs.

  • Reviews the daily and weekly shipping schedules and production capabilities to determine how to employ people, equipment and tooling to execute sequence and expedite daily orders.

  • Designs and directs the work of the team. Selects, coaches and develops staff. Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance – recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
