We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in database automation, cloud infrastructure automation, and observability engineering. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in automating database operational activities using Ansible and GitHub, developing infrastructure automation using AWS CDK, and implementing monitoring and observability solutions through Dynatrace. Exposure to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and AWS RDS database platforms will be a strong advantage.

 

Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Automation

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for database administration and operational activities using Ansible and GitHub/GitHub Actions.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Implement automated deployment, configuration management, patching, backup, and recovery processes.

Cloud Engineering

  • Automate provisioning and lifecycle management of AWS cloud resources.
  • Develop reusable CDK modules and templates aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
  • Ensure cloud environments are secure, scalable, and compliant with organizational policies.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) & Observability

  • Implement and manage observability solutions using Dynatrace.
  • Create dashboards, alerts, monitoring standards, and performance reports.
  • Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements.
  • Drive reliability, availability, and operational excellence across infrastructure and database platforms.
  • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution activities.

Database Operations Support

  • Collaborate with DBA teams to automate database operational activities.
  • Support monitoring, maintenance, backup, recovery, and performance optimization processes.
  • Assist in database platform standardization and operational improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Ansible for automation and configuration management.
    • GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and CI/CD automation.
    • AWS CDK (Python, TypeScript, or similar languages) for cloud infrastructure automation.
    • AWS Cloud Services.
    • Dynatrace for monitoring, observability, and performance management.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps practices, and SRE principles.

    Salary:

    $75,900.00 - $141,900.00

    Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

    BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
