Job Description:

This role reports to the Director of the Analytics and Automation Centre of Excellence. The successful candidate will help drive enhancement to the team’s proactive network performance and capacity management. They will also assist with predictive analytics capabilities using machine learning and artificial intelligence. The resource’s function is to ensure optimal network performance, reliability, and visibility across our hybrid, distributed infrastructure, on-prem and in-cloud.

As the ideal candidate, you will have hands-on experience with Appneta and similar tools for network performance monitoring and diagnostics. You will play a key role in proactively identifying network bottlenecks, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless connectivity for our clients and business-critical applications.

What will you do?

  • Configure, deploy, and manage Appneta performance manager to ensure that monitoring of end-to-end network health is in place and continuous.
  • Analyse network performance metrics, latency, packet loss, jitter, and transaction response times provided by the Appneta tool.
  • Develop and implement proactive monitoring and alerting strategies to avoid incidents and minimize downtimes.
  • Instrument solutions to automate generation and delivery of network performance reports, dashboards, and insights for presentation to stakeholders.
  • Provide escalation support to isolate potential issues, troubleshoot, and resolve network degraded performance impacting user experience and business-critical applications.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (i.e. Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering)
  • 4+ years of experience in network performance engineering, automation, configuration compliance, monitoring, or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Appneta or related network performance monitoring and testing tools or solution (deployment, configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, MPLS, SD-WAN, SNMP).
  • Proficiency in SNMP-V3, MIBs, NetFlow, s-Flow, Syslog, Packet Capture analysis, Wireless Lan.
  • Experience with network monitoring systems (ScienceLogic, Splunk, LiveAction, AlgoSec, Restorepoint, QuickSight, Wireshark).
  • Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS performance monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience in hybrid services, on-prem and in-cloud (Amazon Connect, Microsoft O365 applications, Salesforce).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret network performance data for actionable insights.
  • Sound knowledge of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
