Your role at a glance

The Sr. Network and Automation Engineer is responsible for driving network automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, consistency, scalability, and reliability across enterprise and data center environments. This includes developing and maintaining automation frameworks, infrastructure-as-code solutions, configuration management processes, and operational workflows to reduce manual effort, improve deployment velocity, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.

What we are looking for

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain network automation solutions to streamline provisioning, configuration management, compliance validation, monitoring, and operational processes.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and network automation frameworks using scripting and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
  • Create automated workflows and orchestration processes for network deployments, upgrades, lifecycle management, and remediation activities.
  • Integrate network infrastructure with enterprise platforms, monitoring systems, source-of-truth repositories, CMDBs, and ITSM tools.
  • Develop and maintain automation standards, templates, and reusable code libraries to ensure consistency across network environments.
  • Implement automated compliance and configuration validation processes to ensure adherence to security and operational standards.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of automation platforms, orchestration tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions that improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Maintain technical documentation related to automation frameworks, workflows, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor engineers and technical teams on automation best practices, coding standards, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through automation, data analysis, and operational metrics reporting.

KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong understanding of network automation, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Experience developing automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of source code management platforms such as Git and software development lifecycle best practices.
  • Understanding of API-driven network management, RESTful APIs, data modeling, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with configuration management, compliance automation, and network source-of-truth platforms.
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze operational processes and develop automated solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

  • Ability to lead and participate in projects that cross multiple technical disciplines.
  • Ability to develop technical standards and designs for projects
  • Ability to white-board and intelligently discuss concepts

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of enterprise networking experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in network automation, architecture, or infrastructure engineering leadership roles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to hear and speak on the telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as business needs require.
  • Participation in technical planning sessions, site visits, industry conferences, and vendor engagements.
  • Ability to support critical initiatives outside normal business hours when required.
  • Occasional visits to operational facilities and technical environments requiring adherence to applicable safety and security procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.

Compensation Pay Range

For roles residing in the US, we share pay and benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive pay and benefit levels during the interview process.


This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.


NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is:

$140,000 - $200,000

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
