Join a high-impact quality engineering team supporting the development and production of next-generation autonomous systems. This role is focused on dimensional analysis, metrology strategy, and inspection planning to ensure hardware meets critical design and manufacturing requirements. You will work closely with design, manufacturing, supplier quality, and production teams to develop scalable inspection methodologies that improve product quality, repeatability, and manufacturing confidence.
We are seeking a Metrology Engineer with experience in dimensional inspection, GD&T interpretation, measurement system analysis, and metrology process development within aerospace, defense, robotics, or precision manufacturing environments.
What you'll do:
- Develop and execute dimensional inspection strategies for complex mechanical assemblies and precision components
- Perform dimensional analysis and measurement studies to validate design intent, manufacturing capability, and assembly fit
- Define metrology processes, tooling, and inspection methods using CMMs, laser trackers, scanners, and other precision measurement systems
- Partner with design and manufacturing teams to improve tolerance schemes, GD&T application, and inspection efficiency
- Support root cause investigations related to dimensional nonconformance, assembly variation, and manufacturing defects
- Analyze measurement and process capability data to improve repeatability, product quality, and production readiness
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in metrology, dimensional engineering, manufacturing quality, or precision inspection environments
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, datum structures, and dimensional validation methods
- Experience programming or operating metrology equipment such as CMMs, laser trackers, structured light scanners, or portable measurement systems
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and manufacturing documentation for complex assemblies
- Experience developing inspection plans, measurement strategies, and process capability studies in production environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical findings across cross-functional teams
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, robotics, or autonomous systems programs
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience with NX, PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, SpatialAnalyzer, or similar metrology and dimensional analysis software
- Experience supporting first article inspections (FAI), production qualification, or supplier quality initiatives
