With hundreds of thousands of metering points under management, this role leads a high-volume, complex data pipeline that powers Wyse’s billing, customer care, and analytics platforms. It ensures data accuracy, integrity, and scalability by connecting IoT field data to critical business systems.

About the Role

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Sr. Manager, MDM oversees the full lifecycle of metering data - from field capture through validation, analysis, and delivery for billing and operational use. In this key leadership role, you’ll guide a team of data analysts responsible for monitoring, resolving, and optimizing meter data processes. Further, you will partner across IT and Operations to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and insights that drive billing precision and exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical fluency with strong operational leadership - able to troubleshoot in real time, improve data quality, and scale systems that support Wyse’s continued growth. Success in this role requires an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of how metering data is collected, transmitted, and leveraged across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Ownership

  • Oversee daily MDM operations to ensure accurate and complete data collection from field meters through to billing systems.
  • Coordinate with IT and vendors to resolve technical or system issues impacting data acquisition or integrity.
  • Manage and continuously improve operational workflows for data validation, exception handling, and performance monitoring.
  • Act as the escalation point for data discrepancies, communication failures, or irregular consumption patterns.
  • Ensure compliance with Measurement Canada and other applicable regulatory requirements related to metering accuracy, reverification, and audit traceability.

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Lead the team in supporting customer and client support teams in resolving high-consumption and anomaly inquiries.
  • Analyze consumption patterns and data gaps to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and report operational KPIs related to data quality, network reliability, and billing readiness.
  • Provide actionable insights that support decision-making across Operations, Customer Care, and Billing teams.
  • Investigate discrepancies, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights using data analysis tools (SQL, Power BI, Excel).

Process & Quality Improvement

  • Implement and strengthen QA processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual tasks, and strengthen data controls.
  • Collaborate with IT and metering partners to improve system reliability and optimize MDM, AMI, and IoT integrations.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of data analysts and specialists.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and clear communication between Operations, IT, and Customer Care.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate complex technical or data insights into clear, actionable messages for stakeholders and senior leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Data engineering roles in operations data-driven operational roles.
  • Strong understanding of how field devices collect, transmit, and validate data within MDM, AMI/AMR systems, and how it feeds downstream systems (e.g., billing, analytics).
  • Proven experience managing data pipelines and troubleshooting end-to-end data flow issues from an operational perspective.
  • Ability to interpret technical concepts (Power/water consumption, networks, gateways, MDM systems) and communicate effectively with IT teams.
  • Proficiency in data investigation tools and techniques (SQL, Power BI, Excel).
  • Solid understanding of data quality management and performance monitoring processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using reporting and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
  • Proven leadership ability to manage and coach operational teams, prioritize workloads, and deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications - Ideal to Have

  • Familiarity with submetering systems and technologies (electric, water, gas, thermal).
  • Experience with Meter Data Management (MDM) platforms or related utility data systems.
  • Exposure to advanced metering infrastructure (AMI/AMR) and IoT device networks.
  • Knowledge of energy management or demand response programs.
