What you'll be doing

As Senior Manager of Consumer Insights & Intelligence, you will be responsible for providing highly specialized research expertise and business consulting on marketplace dynamics, customer needs, attitudes and behaviours, and performance management metrics for strategy development and business programs to senior management across multiple business units within CIBC, with a focus on both product and consumer segments. You will be recommending research initiatives and participating in the stewardship of an integrated market research program for CIBC. Critical to this effort is the identification and development of new and innovative methodologies to better understand customer needs and behaviour and new means of collecting and integrating information in a succinct, timely and cost effective manner.

You will manage market research studies from beginning to end, including stakeholder management, scoping, proposal writing, sourcing and selecting suppliers, recommending and reviewing survey instruments, acquiring sample, and reporting on the findings to various internal audiences. In this capacity, you will act as a key Research contact and go-to resource for assigned business partners, both on time sensitive requests, as well as day to day business.

At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Kindly note this is a 12 month contract role.

How you’ll succeed

  • Market Research Expertise – You will succeed by providing an integrated and objective perspective of the marketplace and customer needs, behaviour and attitudes; synthesizing insights, information and market intelligence from many different primary, syndicated, and secondary research sources. You are a strong strategic thinker. You are data agnostic and can see the forest for the trees.

  •  Insightful Storytelling – Synthesize insights from multiple sources to deliver clear, compelling narratives that inform strategic decisions. Transform complex data into actionable insights that drive business impact.

  • Creative Thinking – This position requires creativity, innovation and lateral thinking in research expertise and business interpretation. The successful candidate possesses depth and breadth of research knowledge specifically as it relates to primary market research, as well as a good understanding of business dynamics, and preferably knowledge of the financial services industry.

  • Relationship Management – The position also requires strong relationship management and consultation skills, including persuading and influencing skills sufficient to shape the development of business strategy.

  • Comfort with Ambiguity – Often, your stakeholders may not know exactly what they need, so success in this role also requires someone who’s comfortable tackling ambiguous situations and transforming them into concrete plans with a clear path forward.

  • You have well-developed knowledge of consumer, demographic and socio-economic conditions and trends.

  • You can demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills, as you must be able to convey complex conceptual information and ideas, establish constructive long-term working relationships with business partners and work in a matrix management environment.
