What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Vice President Core Banking and Payments Technology, the Senior Director, Application Development is accountable for the end to end technical ownership, as well as co-product owner with our business partners and key stakeholders for Core Banking applications at CIBC including Retail Deposits, Lending and Insurance. This is a senior technology delivery role which requires thought leadership in domain strategy from both a technology and product lens. As well this role requires strong Tier 1 Critical Operational experience, expert understanding of financials(Project, DOE, Total Cost Of Ownership) and a proven track record of driving increased efficiency across delivery speed, quality and cost.

At CIBC, You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend a minimum of 2-3 days per week on-site.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Strategy Development & Execution: manage all aspects from strategic planning to delivery and application support services and will work alongside quality assurance partners.  This encompasses the development, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of existing application architecture and business solutions, to meet current and future business needs. Monitor application services performance, results and effectiveness to the business. Lead efforts to continually improve perceived “return on investment” of application services.  Establish and manage applications services budget.

  • Innovation: Provides thought leadership, seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technology trends. Provide advice and direction to technology executives and senior business partners regarding all aspects of technology planning and performance.

  • Relationship Management: Manage relationships with delivery areas and business partners; interface and maintain communications, monitor business and technology developments and provide on-time response and support. Proactively manage vendor relationships for project resources and products to ensure effective utilization. Key internal stakeholders include both technology and business executives who are deeply involved in the processes and systems that are automated.

  • Strong Leadership: Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people.  Direct, motivate, develop and manage performance of the management team and key staff.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in: Retail Lending, Deposits and Insurance Business/Technology Domain. Minimum of 10+ years of Experience Transforming and Modernizing Tier 1 Critical Core Banking Applications from an application architecture and delivery mode. Managing Project and Direct Operating Expense Budgets/Plans and Execution to Plans. Application Architecture Knowledge across Mainframe, AS400, and Modern Software Cloud Based Application Toolsets and modern core banking technologies.
