Summary:

The role is responsible for leading the functional design and development of application systems across all technologies and platforms. The role provides consultation for senior management on a wide spectrum of existing and emerging infrastructure technologies, translating user requirements to process and data requirements and developing solutions for the business with far-reaching impact. The role provides technical leadership to develop precise steps and processing logic across all platforms, ensuring the designed specifications achieve business needs. In addition, the role provides comprehensive senior level technical consulting to other IT senior management and senior technical teams. The role makes technology selection decisions that are often made in situations where business requirements are not completely defined.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining the Banking Centre Application Development team within CIBC’s Frontline Technology Group. As a Senior Consultant in the Desktop Application Development team, you will lead technical design and development, and maintain critical internal Banking Centers’ applications. You will provide solutions for our Business partners that may span multiple platforms, requiring you to collaborate with tech partners across CIBC. You’ll be at the heart of CIBC’s digital transformation, successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects involving multiple back-end systems.

How You’ll Succeed

• Application Architecture and Design: Perform and coordinate complex solution design activities. Understand the business requirements and translate them into system and application design that is aligned with our technology roadmap. Design and document the technical functionality, infrastructure, interfaces and integrations. Lead the design of cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet both business objectives and the goal of operational efficiency. Lead the team on how to leverage AI for improving processes and deliverables
• Strategy and Roadmap: Contribute to technology roadmaps that are aligned with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business objectives. Lead multiple complex technology solutions while maintaining consistency across the platform, adopting best practices and pushing forward continuous improvements
• Stakeholder Management: Become the technology export and interface with the project teams by driving and moderating design review sessions to walk stakeholders through, and ensure that the overall design aligns with business requirements as well as architectural directions. Support and mentor junior designers and developers through knowledge sharing, collaboration and effective problem solving

Who You Are

• You can demonstrate experience in: 10+ years of hands-on experience in Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Eclipse/IntelliJ, RDBMS, WebLogic, TypeScript and GitHub. You also have 5+ years of experience with web technology in Java, C#, Javascript, HTML5, and CSS3 or equivalent technologies. You have working knowledge of Azure, Docker, Tomcat, and security concepts. It would be considered a strong asset if you have experience with AI, Azure cloud, AngularJS, SSIS, WPF, WinForms including familiarity with .NET Win32 APIs / Pinvoke, WCF, TPL. Hands on enterprise application delivery experience, responsible for meeting the application support needs of various business units. Effectively managing changes to the production environment and technology-based assets of the organization. Assessing technical information to develop solutions that will not only meet business requirements but improve IT operational excellence, and implement continuous improvement ideas. You have experience with Cloud development, Agile Delivery or DevOps
