What you'll be doing

As the Sr. Consultant, DevOps for Digital Technology, you will provide technical leadership to ensure implementation plans are executed in accordance with CIBC’s operational and service standards, policies, and procedures. You will work collaboratively with diverse technology teams to develop and execute application support and maintenance update plans, drawing on your strong understanding of business dynamics to align technical solutions with organizational objectives. You will lead the response to major incidents and outages, drive root cause analysis, and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance system reliability and service quality. You will independently resolve ambiguous challenges, leveraging your analytic and inductive thinking to create innovative methods and approaches. You will uphold regulatory, security, and audit requirements, overseeing change management in production environments, and serving as a key point of contact for business and technology stakeholders. Through coaching and knowledge sharing, you will develop materials and deliver training to advance the skills and competencies of the AO Digital Technology team, supporting CIBC’s operational excellence and strategic goals.

How you'll succeed

  • Technical Leadership – You will drive and support multiple concurrent technology infrastructure initiatives, ensuring timely delivery, optimal resource allocation, and alignment with CIBC’s transformation goals, operational and service standards, and compliance requirements. You will develop a robust business management function within the team by leading both operational and project-based initiatives in close collaboration with the Application Development portfolio. You will oversee the pipeline of work requests and coordinate audit-related activities to ensure compliance, seamless integration, and effective execution. Through building trusted advisor relationships, influencing stakeholders, and maintaining effective governance, you will deliver value-driven solutions for our clients while proactively managing risks, supporting team development, and staying abreast of industry advancements. Your commitment to collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement will help foster operational excellence and uphold CIBC’s core values.

  • Technical Expertise – You will leverage your deep technical expertise to drive and support multiple technology infrastructure initiatives, applying advanced troubleshooting skills and utilizing tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and MS Azure to optimize operations and deployment pipelines. A strong understanding of CI/CD processes is preferred, as it enables the streamlining and automation of software delivery and integration. You will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by creating and maintaining technical documentation and sharing knowledge across the team. You will ensure rigorous governance and risk management, apply critical thinking and attention to detail in all technical decisions, and maintain a client-centric approach to problem-solving, consistently delivering high-quality solutions that align with CIBC’s standards.

  • Relationship Building – You will build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, technology teams, suppliers, and peers. By acting as a trusted advisor, you will provide valued consulting advice that enables partners to achieve their business goals and ensures technical solutions deliver meaningful value. You will engage with purpose and urgency in every client interaction, focusing on service excellence and making each experience impactful. Through effective communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, you will collaborate across all levels of stakeholders to facilitate the successful management and completion of initiatives, aligning solutions with business objectives. Who you are

  • You can demonstrate 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with a proven track record in operations technology role. You have experience managing production support, application deployment, incident resolution, system monitoring, and operational process improvement in a similar capacity. Experience with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift and MS Azure is important. Knowledge and experience with Monitoring tools such as SPLUNK and Dynatrace for system performance and incident analysis is preferred. Its an asset to have Akamai and certificate management experience.
