Job Summary:
Caterpillar IT is seeking a Sr. Cloud Engineer to join our AWS team. In this role, you will work alongside both peers and cloud architects to focus on creating foundational buildouts, CI/CD solutions, and cybersecurity efforts to support our internal partners' needs. We have a focus on developing the next generation of IT professionals where you will gain a foundational knowledge of the manufacturing industry, as well as, key technology trends.
What You Will Do:
- Providing technical leadership and best practices on AWS solutions, following the Well-Architected Framework.
- Performing implementation and integration tasks for medium to large, complex in-house developed systems and/or purchased software solutions.
- Building and operating fast and scalable workflows for multiple internal business partners.
- Working with a team on complex, globally distributed cloud technology components that may be used by one or more applications or systems
- Assisting customers with documentation, training and usability efforts.
What You Will Have:
- System and Technology Integration: Extensive knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.
- Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Extensive knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
- Core Application Systems: Working knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
- Application Design, Architecture: Basic knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
Considerations for Top Candidates:
- Extensive experience on a team that runs enterprise-scale infrastructure operations or application development, with emphasis on CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (typically 5+ years).
- Experience developing automated solutions to deploy infrastructure or applications ( PowerShell, Python, JSON or YAML )
- AWS Professional level certification or greater
- Experience using the Scrum methodology
- Proven ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and/or system issues across a complex global environment
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, rapidly changing, and culturally diverse environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills

- The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL, Dallas, TX or Nashville, TN.
- This role requires 3 days onsite.
- Relocation is NOT available.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
