The Advisor Experience Consultant, Asian Market will serve as a national expert and strategic resource within Sun Life Global Investments’ Retail Distribution team, supporting wholesalers and leaders in deepening engagement with the Chinese-Canadian advisor community across key markets (Toronto, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vancouver, and Calgary).

This role enhances SLGI’s reach and relevance by combining cultural fluency, language capability (Mandarin and/or Cantonese), and investment expertise to strengthen relationships, drive net sales growth, and position SLGI as a trusted partner within this important segment.

Acting as a subject matter expert and cultural bridge, the Consultant will collaborate closely with regional sales teams to identify opportunities, participate in joint advisor meetings, and provide tailored education, resources, and communications that reflect the unique preferences and perspectives of Chinese-Canadian advisors and investors.

What will you do?

  • Partner with Regional Wealth Sales Directors and Regional Vice Presidents to identify, prioritize, and support advisor relationships within the Chinese community.
  • Join client-facing meetings where language or cultural fluency enhances relationship-building, providing translation or interpretation in Mandarin and/or Cantonese as needed.
  • Act as a trusted resource for wholesalers to strengthen SLGI’s brand awareness, product understanding, and advisor experience within the Chinese market segment.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to adapt advisor education materials, campaigns, and events to align with cultural and linguistic nuances.
  • Support event planning and participation (seminars, roadshows, recognition events, webinars) targeted at the Chinese advisor community, including in-language sessions.
  • Contribute to developing strategic partnerships with community organizations, advisor groups, and cultural associations that align with SLGI’s growth objectives.
  • Share market insights, feedback, and advisor sentiment with Distribution leadership to inform strategy, resource allocation, and future initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of SLGI’s product shelf, value propositions, and investment solutions, helping advisors articulate benefits in culturally relevant ways.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, and Product teams to improve the advisor journey and identify process enhancements.
  • Demonstrate the values of strength, synergy, and partnership in every advisor interaction, ensuring consistency with SLGI’s mission to be advisors’ most trusted partner.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is required; Cantonese proficiency (spoken and written) is highly preferred
  • 4–6 years of progressive experience in the financial services industry, in a client-facing, distribution, advisor-support, or sales capacity, preferably within asset management, insurance, or wealth management sectors, with direct advisor experience considered a strong asset.
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of mutual funds, ETFs, and segregated fund products.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills (verbal, written, and in-language).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Chinese cultural norms, community networks, and financial decision-making behaviours within the Canadian context.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to drive results through influence and partnership.

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional designations such as CFA. CFP, CIM or CSC considered an asset.

What's in it for you?

  • Hybrid work environment
  • A friendly, collaborative, and inclusive culture
  • 20 vacation days per year
  • Flexible Benefits from the day you join to meet the needs of you and your family
  • Pension, stock and savings programs to help build and enhance your future financial security
  • The opportunity to move along a variety of career paths with amazing networking potential
