The Specialist Marketing & Communications role supports Gore Mutual’s business goals and objectives, enhances the company’s reputation (internally and externally) and the employee experience. This role objectives are to support the assigned business portfolios, providing long-term and project-related internal and external marketing and communications strategy, planning and execution. It is expected that through this support, this individual will have helped the business area meet their objectives, while improving both employee and broker engagement. 

What you will do: 

Execute deliverables of marketing and communications plan 

  • Write and/or manage the production of compelling, targeted, and concise materials, including, but not limited to: 
  • Emails, Articles, Speeches, Presentations, Webinars, Videos, Social media posts, Thought Leadership, Blogs, Scripts, FAQs, Press releases, Advertisements and Brochures
  • Make sure the necessary subject matter experts, leaders, and stakeholders are consulted to provide accurate content, while still keeping the appropriate language for the audience in mind
  • Ensure the selected mediums and tactics are appropriate for the target audiences and business objectives 

Develop strategic communications and marketing plans for designated business areas 

  • Meet with leaders and subject matter experts, analyze internal and external data, research industry best practices and understand industry-related factors to develop comprehensive, integrated and strategic communications plans for each initiative
  • Work with partners in other departments to gain consensus on the plan and alignment on roles and responsibilities
  • Socialize the plan and ensure necessary approvals of the plan are obtained prior to commencing execution

Measurement of the communications and marketing plan 

  • Set SMART objectives that relate to the plan—both from a business as well as communications perspective
  • Allow for both outcomes and outputs to ensure meaningful measurement of the initiative
  • Ensure technology or tracking is in place prior to the commencement of the plan so that appropriate metrics can be gathered
  • Create reports following the end of the plan with the results of the measurement

Manage communications and marketing plan 

  • Act as the project manager for the communications and marketing plan, keeping it up to date with status, following up with those who have accountabilities in the plan and managing approvals 
  • Communicating with the stakeholders of the plan, including leadership, subject matter experts, and those with accountabilities in the plan 

Act as a trusted advisor to designated business areas 

  • Meet with leaders to understand business objectives, key initiatives and measures of success 
  • Be available to assist with ad hoc communications and marketing assistance as required  

What you will need to succeed: 

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree or certification in public relations, marketing, communications or journalism
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with executing strategic communications plans
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a communications role, internal and external communications  
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with P&C insurance communications, marketing and B2B marketing 
  • Experience with strategic communications and marketing planning (IABC model or equivalent), including detailed work-back plans 
  • Experience with using communications and marketing electronic tools such as SharePoint, email tools, etc. 
  • Experience with writing for various mediums (intranets, newsletters, press releases, trade publications, web, blogs, social media, sales materials) 
  • Experience with developing presentations, including speaking notes and other support materials 
  • Experience with developing and writing FAQs for various audiences 
  • Experience with developing and writing speeches 
  • Experience with developing video concepts, storyboarding, script writing, providing suggestions for edits 
  • Experience with working with graphic designers and video producers to direct work 
  • Experience with providing support to events in terms of suggesting and developing appropriate support materials 

The expected base salary range for this position is $67,000 - $117,000. Depending on your relevant experience, skills, qualifications, market conditions and business needs, base compensation may vary. You have the potential to earn more through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals. 

Please note: This range reflects the expected base salary for this role but may not represent the full compensation range for all experience and skill levels. During the recruitment process, we will discuss and consider how your unique qualifications align with the broader range for this position.
