What you'll be doing
As the Solution Architect supporting the Marketing Modernization & Enablement portfolio, you'll be the hands-on technical backbone for new and innovative technology initiatives that enhance our marketing execution processes. Marketing Modernization is focused on improving the end-to-end journey for content distribution, marketing, and analytics by designing bespoke in-house tools. In this role, you'll own solution architecture for prioritized use cases and proofs of concept, spending approximately 30–40% of your time coding during builds and contributing to engineering standards and practices. You'll also be responsible for feature design, shaping the product roadmap, and leading production handoff and readiness. Your expertise will help drive efficiencies, elevate engineering quality, and ensure successful delivery of technology solutions.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
Solution Architecture & Technical Design – Produce architecture diagrams, component designs, and integration specifications that enable consistent and scalable implementations.
Hands-on Development & Code Quality – Build core solution components and enforce engineering standards through code reviews, testing practices, and documentation expectations.
Technical Feasibility & Estimation – Provide effort estimates and identify dependencies and constraints during prioritization to support delivery planning and decision-making.
Platform & Environment Enablement – Recommend tooling and environments (such as cloud platforms, Databricks, and CI/CD approaches) to enable efficient builds and reliable deployments.
Production Handoff & Operational Readiness – Lead validation, deployment readiness, and structured technical handoff to production teams, including walkthroughs and issue resolution support.
Documentation and Knowledge Management – Maintain and contribute to reusable patterns, standards, and technical documentation to improve repeatability and accelerate future use cases.
Who you are
You have relevant experience. You have a diploma in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with 4–6+ years in software development and 2+ years in a lead or architect role.
You’re proficient in Python, and experience with TypeScript/JavaScript is an asset.
Demonstrate hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Databricks preferred) and/or GCP, building and deploying applications using LLM APIs, and packaging and handing off code for production deployment and support.
You have strong knowledge of Docker, CI/CD, and API-first architecture, excellent documentation habits, and experience in regulated industries or financial services is strongly preferred.
You act like an owner. You thrive when empowered to take the lead, go above and beyond expectations, and deliver impactful results.
You’re a self-starter. You proactively identify opportunities and resolve gaps, working independently with minimal direction.
You embrace and champion change. You continuously evolve your thinking and approach to deliver your best in a dynamic environment.
You put our clients first. You engage with purpose to find the right solutions, going the extra mile because it’s the right thing to do.
You’re digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions, embrace evolving technologies, and adapt easily to new tools and trends.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
