ExtraHop is reinventing Network Detection and Response (NDR) to help enterprises and organziations stay ahead of emerging threats with unmatched network visibility, context, and control.

Today’s attackers bypass traditional security defenses through identity-based entry, move invisibly across cloud, on-premise, and data center networks using encryption and trusted applications, and exploit and exit whenever they want.  But all of that movement is visible on the network... if you can see it.

By combining the power of NDR with Network Performance Management (NPM), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and forensics in a single, integrated platform, ExtraHop can decrypt and unlock complete packet-level data at wire speed, analyze and correlate it across all your networks, applications, devices, and users with cloud-scale machine learning, and provide a single interface to the SOC to detect, investigate, and remediate modern cyber risks in real time.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Software Quality Engineer III with a passion for software quality and strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) in an agile environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong testing ability , a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards. This role provides the opportunity to work on cutting-edge software solutions while driving quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own test strategy & automation: design, implement, and maintain tests (unit, API/component, end-to-end) for new and existing features.
  • Shift left: collaborate with devs and PMs early in design to prevent defects; add checks to CI/CD and merge gates.
  • Data & tooling: build/maintain scripted tooling and fixtures for reliable, repeatable test data.
  • Systems testing: validate end-to-end scenarios across Linux, containers, and public clouds (AWS/Azure/GCP); verify networking and identity flows.
  • Quality operations: triage, track, and drive defects to resolution in Jira (or similar); report meaningful quality metrics.
  • Environments: configure and manage test environments for stability and performance; bake in observability for fast failure triage.
  • Continuously improve: expand coverage, reduce flake, and streamline the pipeline.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years in Software QA/quality engineering (more for Senior).
  • Strong debugging instincts and curiosity—an engineer who wants to know why things break and how to prevent it.
  • Proficient with Linux and scripting (Python, Bash, or JavaScript).
  • Experience with issue tracking (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) and modern testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience with cloud or virtualization (AWS/Azure/GCP, VMware, etc.).
  • Experience with Cloud monitoring tools (Prometheus/Grafana/AlertManager)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Kubernetes (K8s), K8s Sharding, Terraform/Terragrunt, Calico (CNI), Ansible or equivalent
  • Experience with cell based cloud architectures (tenant separation)
  • Coding in Go (or strong desire to learn).
  • Identity and access management: Microsoft Entra/Azure AD, Auth0, Ping, Okta; directories like AD/LDAP; validating IdP-backed APIs.
  • Networking/protocols: SSH, HTTPS, CIFS/SMB, TLS, certificates.
  • Test framework development/maintenance; CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins); artifacting and parallelization.
  • Cybersecurity experience or interest in security testing.
  • Work well in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
  • Has predictable, reliable attendance.

We welcome candidates who meet most—but not all—requirements. If you’re excited about improving software quality at scale, we’d love to hear from you.

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $145,000 + bonus + benefits
