Role summary

Join eBay's Offers team as a Software Engineer and become a part of a dynamic initiative to revolutionize our Offer/BIN systems! Our mission is to flawlessly modernize our backend platform, ensuring we continue to deliver world-class service to millions of users. You'll be at the forefront of our Oracle migration, driving innovation and reducing execution risks.

Key responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and evolve backend services that support Offer/BIN experiences
  • Drive CATY migration work across service and dependency boundaries
  • Partner with adjacent teams on API evolution, integration changes, and rollout planning
  • Improve service reliability, observability, and operational readiness during migration
  • Identify and reduce technical debt that slows Offer modernization delivery
  • Support safe launches through testing, monitoring, and phased rollout practices
Required qualifications
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
  • Experience building and operating production services in Java or similar backend stacks
  • Solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and service-to-service integration
  • Experience debugging production issues using logs, metrics, and traces
  • Ability to work across teams to drive delivery on multi-system efforts
  • Strong ownership, execution, and communication skills
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with platform or service migrations
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems without breaking downstream consumers
  • Familiarity with performance, reliability, and scalability concerns in high-traffic systems
  • Experience with rollout planning, backward compatibility, and risk mitigation
  • Exposure to ecommerce or transactional systems

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

C$118,000 - C$157,500

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
