NetBox Labs is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Observability Team. Observability is a key component of network automation and assurance, critical to our company mission to make it easier to build and manage complex networks.
In this role you will:
Building and extending the Discovery & Assurance suite of products, focusing on the Assurance NetBox plugins.
Delivering both closed and open source software.
You'll work closely with:
Product management – to bring ideas to life and deliver a compelling user experience
The Core Applications Engineering team – to create the ultimate observability tooling within NetBox
The Platform Engineering team – to ensure seamless integration with NetBox Cloud and Enterprise
Community members- as users and contributors to the project
Requirements:
Extensive experience in Python and Django.
Skilled in building microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
Proficient in Golang and gRPC.
Knowledge of observability, monitoring and instrumentation, such as OpenTelemetry and MQTT
Solid understanding of network infrastructure and related concepts, such as devices and device configurations, networking protocols and layers, and network automation with ansible
Experience in building intuitive admin UI’s using HTML, CSS, and frameworks like Bootstrap, as well as some experience with HTMX.
3+ years of experience working in a fast paced, SaaS startup environment
Great communication skills, including the ability to write technical specifications with diagrams
Involvement with open source projects as a founder, maintainer or key contributor
Nice to Haves:
Experience with AI technologies like Claude, Codeium, Copilot and Cursor
