About the team
Dialpad’s Data Annotation & Testing team plays an essential role in the development of our Ai features for our suite of business communication products. This team collaborates closely with Natural Language Processing (NLP), Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Artificial Intelligence Research (AIR) & Product Management to constantly improve our customers' ability to derive valuable insights from their conversations.
Your role
As a Junior Fullstack Software Developer, you’ll own internal tooling including transcription platforms, data pipelines and SDK tooling and code. You’ll work closely with Data Specialists, Analytics Engineers, QA Engineers and ASR Engineers to develop and maintain tooling to reduce and simplify their workloads. Examples of what you will work on include a transcription platform which makes the process of transcription as easy and fast as possible for our transcribers, while surfacing relevant information to them in a helpful and easy to access format. In addition, you’ll help streamline our processes in working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Labelbox SDKs to improve data selection, processing and annotation processes.
This position reports to our Data Annotation & Testing Manager and has the opportunity to be based in our Kitchener Office.
What you’ll do
- You will own our internal transcription platform and make updates as needed to improve the experience of our transcribers.
- You will own our existing data pipeline which automatically samples, processes and uploads data for transcription as well as making updates as needed, improving sampling options and adding additional functionality as needed.
- You will develop additional tooling to support our team with their data annotation and transcription projects.
- You will identify opportunities for process improvement and automation and implement them with the development of new tooling.
- You will partner closely with the Transcriber Team, Data Specialists, Analytics Engineers and ASR Engineers to understand their requirements and learn about their workflows to help improve their work and the tools they use.
Skills you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technology-related field such as computer science, web development or software engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 1 - 3 years experience with Python and asynchronous web server technologies, including aiohttp and Sanic
- 1 - 3 years experience in JavaScript along with HTML, CSS, and familiarity with the latest frameworks such as vue.js and react to develop functional and appealing user interfaces.
- 1 - 3 years experience designing database schema, tables and stored procedures and using alembic or similar.
- Experience working with GCP including storage, BigQuery, Compute, Kubernetes or similar.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience with CI/CD and familiarity with containerization using Docker or similar.
