Abnormal Security is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Threat Response Engine team, an essential part of our mission to protect global enterprises from diverse and evolving email threats. At Abnormal, we’ve taken a novel approach to email security, utilizing behavioral AI to identify and counter complex attacks in real time. In this role, you’ll be central to developing and scaling out our Automated Threat Response Engine—a system designed to adapt our detection system to the various threat environments our customers are exposed to. As every organization faces unique and changing attack patterns, our Threat Response Engine enables Abnormal to respond precisely and quickly by automatically training, deploying, and evaluating detectors based on observed attacks within each customer’s environment and acts as a complement to our core detection models. This system is central to the Detection Team’s strategy as Abnormal scales out to serve customers in multiple regions, each of which sees a unique threat landscape.

What you will do 

  • Architect, design, build our Automated Threat Response engine - this engine is a key part of Detection Team’s strategy to scale in order to support 10X customer growth
  • Decompose, design and deploy our foundational components of our scaled scoring framework to feed and empower our threat response engine
  • Operationalize a highly autonomous and scalable threat Response engine for multiple datacenters and regions
  • Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, ML engineers,  Data Scientists and Threat Analysts and correlate feedback to our detection strategy
  • Participate in Sprint planning, code reviews, standups, and other aspects of the software development life cycle

Must Haves 

  • 3+ years experience designing and building software applications in Python with a particular focus on backend development.
  • 2+ years experience in developing and deploying impactful customer centric product features. 
  • Proven experience translating business requirements into software requirements and building scalable systems with high quality implementations.
  • Strong ability to independently drive and solve complex problems end to end.
  • Experience debugging using log analytic tools, metrics, and other signals  to quickly and autonomously solve real-time-solving novel problems.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or other related engineering field

Nice to Have 

  • Experience with big data, statistics, and Machine Learning
  • Experience with Airflow, Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, Pandas
  • Experience with algorithms and optimization
