About Found

The self-employed workforce is a rapidly growing, resilient, and colorful 60 million Americans. But self-employment comes with its own set of challenges: navigating taxes, accounting, bookkeeping, and business banking are just a few. That’s where we come in.

Found is building tools that give self-employed people the security and peace of mind that has historically only been possible at big corporations. We’re a business bank account that automates taxes and expense tracking because we believe small business owners should spend more time doing what they love and less time on their business finances.

We’re looking for kind, resourceful, and passionate people to join us in building the safety net for self-employment.

About this role

Our engineering team is responsible for taking products from ideation to being used by tens of thousands of users every week. We're responsible for everything from building the product to reliable and performant technical operations.

Found's Taxes & Bookkeeping (TAB) Team is responsible for building an intuitive, automatic bookkeeping solution that saves our customers’ time and money. We also help Found reach new customer segments and differentiate as an all-in-one solution.

We are looking for a Software Engineer that is excited to build, test, and deploy maintainable code. You will be building Found's core bookkeeping functionality, expanding our suite of Accountant and team tools and growing our paid subscription offering.

Day to day, you will:
  • Collaborate with other engineers to build and ship both user and internal facing features.

  • Work closely with a dedicated designer and product manager as part of a tight-knit working group—from kickoffs and design handoffs to pre-launch testing sessions.

  • Determine how we will build, test, deploy, and scale features.

  • Write secure and maintainable code and technical systems.

  • Create and monitor post-launch dashboards (DataDog, Amplitude) to track feature adoption and impact.

To thrive in this role, you have:
  • 4+ years of experience with backend and frontend frameworks.

  • Passion for learning and growing as an engineer and team member.

  • Knowledge of Ruby on Rails, React, Typescript, MySQL, and Redis.

You may also have:
  • Previous startup experience and/or demonstrated technical initiative on previous projects.

  • Experience or interest in financial services, accounting, and/or self-employment.

  • Experience in tax related products or services.
