What You Will Do:

As a part of our engineering team, you will be working with a team of friendly, dedicated, and motivated engineers to develop innovative location intelligence solutions. Your day-to-day activities include:

  • Brainstorming, problem solving, challenging the status quo, and thinking out of the box
  • Developing and maintaining our enterprise data platform including data warehouse, data lakes, data marts, and data pipelines using modern frameworks and technologies
  • Create, use, and improve Statistical and Machine Learning models to derive insights from data
  • Work with hundreds of datasets and effectively discover, access, manage and utilize data from various sources, formats, and platforms
  • Knowledge sharing, code reviews, continuous learning, and helping your team to exercise best practices
  • Engagement and exposure to full software development lifecycle and working closely with senior management and other company functions

Qualifications:

Your most valuable skill is the ability to learn, closely followed by the ability to know when you don't know something. You are willing to have a go at anything, but also acknowledge when you need help from a specialist on the team. Finally, you believe in working efficiently and collaboratively to deliver products with the WOW factor, and you also have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (preferred). Candidates with degrees in other engineering or science disciplines must demonstrate an additional 3 years of relevant professional experience in software development.
  • Master’s degree with demonstrated experience in research and development on data-intensive projects, or 2+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 1 year as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer working on data-intensive applications.
  • Highly skilled in Python, plus one of the following programming languages: Java, C#, or TypeScript
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, relational data modelling, and relational databases
  • Solid understanding of core software engineering concepts including object-oriented design, databases, data modelling, design patterns, concurrency, data structures, and algorithm complexity.

Nice to Know:

  • Familiarity with DataBricks and Apache Spark.
  • Experience with modern web development Frameworks (e.g. Angular, React) and Data Visualization libraries
  • Experience with geospatial data, including modeling, processing, storage, transformation, and visualization, using tools like PostGIS, QGIS, and OpenStreetMap.

Location:

This position is Hybrid with our office located in Downtown Vancouver. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada and should be able to commute to our office on a daily basis.
