Here at Hometap, we’re collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they’ve built in their home to pay for what’s most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.

We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don’t have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Forbes have recognized us as a great place to work, and we’ve been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by Inc., HousingWire, and more!

In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, unlimited PTO, a generous share package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.

Interested in joining us on our mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible? We’d love to talk.

Who you are:

As a Software Architect, you’ll join a team responsible for setting the vision for Hometap’s technology. This position will be instrumental in the design and development of new and existing products, while ensuring strong quality with adherence to defined development processes. You’ll take the lead in implementing coherent and scalable development processes, designing innovative technical solutions and strategies, providing guidance to the engineering team, and fulfilling a technical lead role on projects. The ideal candidate is well-versed in software architecture, highly collaborative, and motivated to build tools that meaningfully help homeowners.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with Hometap’s business stakeholders and technical team to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new features or applications.
  • Craft, propose, and document architecture designs, and implement systems to fulfill business initiatives.
  • Provide opinions and know-how on how best to implement enterprise-quality code design, with Python principles preferred.
  • Define and estimate required work, provide advice on system designs, track dependencies, report progress, highlight blockers, and validate architecture guidelines are followed.
  • Design and develop proof of concept implementations of new technology or design recommendations.
  • Evaluate, guide, and recommend architecture patterns, implementation approaches, and other platform and/or tooling choices.
  • Oversee the progress of the development team to ensure consistency with initial design.
  • Lead software development projects, and perform design and code reviews.

What you bring:

  • Proven experience as a software architect, with excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture.
  • Significant experience in software development, with special attention to coding in Python (experience with Django is a plus).
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening), with the ability to build positive working relationships across multiple functions and levels within the organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure development and tech stacks.
  • Experience writing high-quality application code using emerging technologies and frameworks primarily targeting cloud-based ecosystems (AWS Preferred).
