Oh, hello there, screen time savant

Funday is a full-service & fully-remote agency made up of people who are friendly and hardworking in equal measure. Inspired by an unrelenting belief that having fun is integral to creativity, we like to say we’re all about fun and brains. You know, that sweet spot between where pretty and performance meet and where insight and imagination produce the entirely unexpected? That’s where we thrive.

Social Media Specialist

As a Social Media Specialist you will report directly to the Director of Strategy and work closely with the creative team. Your role will be varied and may change from day to day. One minute you’ll be curating social feeds; the next you’ll be creating unhinged posts about breadsticks. We’re a small group scattered around the globe and everyone gets their hands dirty. You’ll always be part of a team that has a passion for great work, including creatives, strategists, technologists, and producers who will help you push the work forward.

Location: You’ll work remotely from BC, AB or ON.

What you’ll do

  • Curate social feeds to keep a finger on the pulse of what’s trending
  • Use those feeds to create social engagement via inbound and outbound engagement
  • Working on multiple brands simultaneously, you will understand each brand’s tone of voice to ensure consistency across messaging and channels
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to quickly capitalize on real-time opportunities
  • Lead community management efforts (weekdays and weekends as needed) to both grow the brand and foster community
  • Lead organic social reporting to understand what content is resonating, track performance over time, and translate data into insights and stories clients can easily understand and that enables us to continuously refine our social approach

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Experience using social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g. Sprout, Later, etc.)
  • Experience working with multiple brands simultaneously and balancing the workload that comes with it
  • Experience working in an advertising agency an asset
  • Wholistic understanding of a brand from its offerings to its tone of voice
  • Experience with community management, identifying and keep up with trends for both outbound and inbound engagement and identifying real-time opportunities for content
  • Ability to speak and respond in a brand’s tone of voice on social media - from professional to ‘unhinged’
  • Experience fostering/maintaining the relationship with client teams to get their buy-in on ideas in a timely manner; particularly as it relates to real-time opportunities for content
  • Demonstrated ability to measure growth via metrics, identify what they mean and translate that for your client
  • Attention to detail

You’ll want to read this part

  • Cover Letter - we get it, it's a lot to write. If you think adding a cover letter will help us understand your experience, feel free to upload one. If your resume says everything and there's nothing to add, leave it out! Both are OK!
  • If you live in Canada, are able to work here and you are in one of these provinces: BC, AB, ON - please apply! Otherwise, we’re sorry, we won’t be able to employ you.
  • Same role - multiple postings: we post the same role in multiple locations to help us cast a wide net. Applying to each location for a posting will not increase your chances. Now that we've saved you some time, go do something fun!
  • This posting is for an existing vacancy we are looking to fill immediately and not a prospective future role (i.e. we’re saying this isn’t a ghost job).

Come be a Funatic

We believe you won’t perform at your best if you’re not having fun. And you can’t have fun if you’re not performing. We believe that this creates the best client + agency relationships, and is the best way to make great work.

We believe in respect, inclusivity, kindness, equity, and equality. We want to make a positive impact. We believe that collaboration is the fun part of being at work. We strive to create a culture in which “we” is more important than “me”.

Apart from loving terrible fun puns, we’re a start-up, and we're growing fast – which means you’ll have a chance to make your mark and grow with us. We’re also almost 100% remote, and that might not appeal to everyone – but if you value flexibility, it’s perfect.

Join us.
