Job Responsibilities:
Wage Range: 23.00 to 25.00
- Perform all duties and responsibilities prescribed in Setup Machinist Level 1 and Level 2
- Operate multiple machining centers as required
- Maintain machine runtimes as per departmental goals
- Perform to quality standards defined by department
- Use CAM software - focusing on basic programming, i.e., creating reference programs, block preparation and simple fixes
- Perform and record all required geometry checks at designated intervals
- Assist programmers in the operation completion process "Quality check sheet"
- Train new "Setup Machinist" hires on all aspects of machine operation and setup to ensure smooth transitions and promote a stronger overall department
- Participate in creating best practice and standardize work processes that will help promote a safe and efficient department workflow
- Ability to notice abnormal conditions in programs and/ or setups and request clarification from Machinist/ programmers
- Work alone on various shifts with minimum supervision
- Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives
- Adhere to applicable quality systems and Support the total Tycos Management System (MAFACT, WCM, ISO-9001)
- Perform other duties as required
HEALTH & SAFETY:
- Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abide by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promote safety in the workplace
- Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behaviour
- Participate in accident/incident investigation process
- Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards; Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
HUMAN RESOURCES:
- Adhere to and promote the Magna Employee Charter; work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Tycos Employee Handbook and follow all Tycos instructions, policies and procedures
Education:
- Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma an asset or equivalent experience
- College diploma / University degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience an asset
Experience:
- Experience as a Set Up Machinist level 2 (or equivalent ~2+ years external experience)
Skills:
- Working knowledge of CAM software is required
- Working knowledge of cutter path verification software is required
- Working knowledge of quality checking software is required
- Working knowledge of the theory and practical application of machining and machining related procedures
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills
