Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Tax Strategy & Oversight is an experienced, strategic and technically proficient tax professional who leads the Tax Strategy & Oversight function. This senior role is responsible for shaping and guiding the Company’s tax planning, strategy, and advisory efforts across Tricon's U.S and Canadian operations. The incumbent has deep expertise in cross-border taxation and plays a key role in identifying opportunities to optimize our tax structure and efficiency while ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tax Strategy & Planning: Develop and lead the organization’s tax strategy to support our business objectives, drive efficiency, and manage risk in the U.S. and Canada. Maintain relationships and ongoing dialogue with the Company’s shareholder and its external tax advisors.

  • Advisory: Provide strategic, practical and business-minded tax advice to senior leadership on corporate initiatives, transactions, executive compensation matters and business and investment vehicle structures.

  • Compliance Oversight: Work with the Tax Compliance team and partner with other internal and external stakeholders to direct compliance activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with planning and strategic goals. Provide input and guidance on tax audit and dispute resolution and on the preparation and review of tax filings and Company financial statements.

  • Optimization & Efficiency: Identify and implement tax planning strategies to enhance overall tax efficiency, including transfer pricing, repatriation planning, cost sharing, transaction planning and other structuring opportunities.

  • Monitoring & Risk Management: Stay ahead of legislative and regulatory developments in Canadian and U.S. tax law. Assess impacts and proactively recommend necessary adjustments to mitigate risk and leverage opportunities.

  • Collaboration & Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to Company executives as well as the Finance, Legal, Accounting and Investment teams. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior Tax team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and strategic thinking. Seize opportunities to participate in thought leadership in the broader tax community.

Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax laws, with proven cross-border tax planning experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to communicate both complex tax issues to non-specialist stakeholders as well business objectives and risk appetite to external tax advisors.

  • Strong project management, analytical, leadership and organizational skills.

  • Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment with legal, finance, accounting and operational teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in tax strategy, planning, or advisory, ideally within a multinational or professional services environment.

  • CPA or JD designation.
