The Senior UX Researcher in our Advanced Tech (AT) stream will be responsible for all the UX needs of our main robotic handling product, On-Grid Robotic Pick. The role encompasses both research into the software and hardware aspects of this product and will be involved partnering alongside a number of Product Managers working on scaling this product in an embedded manner. This role will join our small ATUX team but will have an independent portfolio to work on. The role will require working on the UX of our robotic arm from both a hardware and a software perspective.

Accountabilities:

  • Have a flexible delivery focused approach and liaise with the Product Managers within AT to understand and align effort with roadmap objectives/deadlines and UX priorities.
  • Plan, conduct, and analyse user research studies from scoping to deliverables to gain deep insights into user behaviours, needs, and motivations.
  • Utilise a variety of research methods, including being able to test hardware usability even at the very earliest stages of the build.
  • Responsible for providing research insights to their partner PMs to enable strong data informed decision-making.
  • Contributes to UX deliverables and artefacts that meet user & product stream missions / objectives and drive UX Maturity in the space.
  • Shares knowledge within UX community on request and with guidance.
  • Strong collaboration skills and able to work with other UXers and Product teams to explore multiple approaches to a problem and embrace iteration to improve products in line with team deadlines.
  • Challenge ideas/problems & validate solutions using data & insights from end users, retailers & stakeholders
  • Understand the product and user access constraints to determine the most effective research methodology to pick.
  • Be able to understand the research conducted in the perspective of the wider product need and future, to deliver not just useful insights for now, but with an eye on the needs of the future product.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and stakeholder relationships at once.
  • Appreciate the importance of achieving an embedded UX approach to product development and how to create that with limited resources.

Experience Required:

  • Strong prior experience in UX research, ideally in a B2B and/or hardware setting (though not necessary)
  • Knowledge of working with mixed teams / functional areas, including product management, software engineering, hardware engineering, and UX/UI design.
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, track and deliver on commitments.
  • Proven experience working at all stages of the product development lifecycle.
  • Intellectual rigour, possesses relevant abilities & is able to pick up new skills quickly.
  • Ability to work in a team effectively and / or work autonomously.
  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capturing business needs and user requirements to support product realisation.
  • Previous experience working in embedded products or with hardware usability testing is ideal.
