About the Team:

Investment Operations serves as a control point between the Front Office (Investment Management and Trading Teams) and the Back-Office Counterparties (Brokers, Issuers). The work is varied and structured in a few hour blocks of tasks with broad exposure across the Operations, Investment and Trading departments. 

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Application Support, the Senior Trade Support Analyst – Investment Operations will monitor and support all aspects of the Investment Trading function (including, but not limited to trading application user support, daily cash & asset reconciliations, corporate actions processing, trade processing and corrections, securities setup and security master data support , audit support);plus liaise with vendor for troubleshooting and administration of application configuration in addition to providing general  support to client groups as well as participate in new product launches and ad-hoc projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Overall day-to-day responsibility for operational support and monitoring of all aspects of the Investment Operations trading system and processes.
  • Provide front-line support for the trading and analytics platform, Bloomberg AIM and Bloomberg PORT, as well as downstream applications such as Eagle and Barraone
  • Responsible for timely and efficient resolution of issues with specified Investment Operations systems, in particular Bloomberg AIM
  • Support the daily ETF processes, including ETF Order Approval and Processing, and End of Day Basket Reconciliation
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancement of user experience through understanding the business model, business rules etc.
  • Track vendor related issues from discovery to resolution; monitor Issue logs to ensure all issues are addressed and escalated appropriately.
  • Apply analytical skills to identify root cause of issues, achieve effective problem resolution and to deliver viable solutions. Anticipate obstacles and execute proactive approach to issues
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency in existing processes and workflows.
  • Ensure all workflows and processes are documented and that documentation is regularly reviewed and updated
  • Assist the manager in providing additional oversight of daily processes, tasks and requests to ensure issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Provide additional support and assistance in the onboarding of new initiatives and projects
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships within the team, through regular communication, information sharing and collaboration on problem solving.
  • Customer Service oriented, placing high priority on responsive and a timely follow-up to user base with status updates.
  • Provide 2nd level support on overnight system processing as issues arise.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other teams and departments to facilitate end-to-end solutions to user issues.

Your Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in Front Office Trade Support, ideally in a BUY-SIDE Trade Operations organization
  • Advanced knowledge of BUY-SIDE Trading systems and workflows, with extensive experience using Bloomberg Professional Applications (AIM, TOMS, PORT Plus/Enterprise), BNY Mellon Nexen and SS&C would be an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of varied market instruments and their trading life cycle, including Domestic and International Equities, FI Instruments, Exchange Trade Funds, Currency Forwards, Options, Credit Default Swaps, Total Return Swaps, Term Loans
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office (specifically Excel formulas, macros & VBA).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with writing SQL/Oracle queries, strong comprehension of relational databases
  • Strong Investment management, Mutual Fund and ETF product knowledge
  • Strong Investment data knowledge, specifically in financial instrument data attributes, Security Master data
  • Technical literacy: able to understand complex issues and translate these issues down to the lowest common denominator
  • Demonstrated experience in adding operational efficiencies at the process and systems level
  • Service minded and client oriented
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
