49 Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Architect consultant to support SSC with the Department of National Defence (DND) in its data centre closure and consolidation initiatives. This role involves providing strategic technical guidance, designing and implementing IT infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with exceptional client management skills, able to navigate complex stakeholder environments and maintain strong professional relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of data centre closure projects across DND, including on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Gather and analyze business and technical requirements to develop infrastructure solutions that meet client and government mandates.
  • Provide high-level strategic planning and technical advice directly to senior management.
  • Conduct risk assessments, feasibility studies, and options analysis for infrastructure consolidation and cloud migration projects.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure solutions are compatible with existing technology environments and SSC mandates.
  • Develop project plans, technical documentation, and presentations for stakeholders, ensuring knowledge transfer and cross-training.
  • Evaluate current and future-state infrastructure, identifying opportunities for modernization and optimization.
  • Demonstrate strong client management and communication skills, effectively navigating challenging stakeholder situations while maintaining positive working relationships.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience within the last 15 years, preferably in government IT architecture and data centre consolidation projects.
  • Proven experience with enterprise IT solutions, including virtualization, cloud services, directory services, network, firewall, operating systems, databases, and application containerization.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions.
  • Experience providing advisory support to senior management and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional client management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with challenging stakeholders.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
