Role Overview

As a senior/staff engineer, you will be driving initiatives with broad business and technical impact. This role is not tied to a single area - senior/staff engineers at Maxima help solve our most important and complex problems. Notable challenges include:

  • Building our agentic systems that power real-world enterprise accounting automation

  • Scaling our platform to support large and growing enterprise workloads

  • Architecting a durable and scalable financial data processing layer

  • Building the infrastructure that powers our agentic systems

  • Solving intricate accounting workflows through clean and robust abstractions

You’ll own major product and engineering areas and get to work closely with customers. Beyond technical excellence, we value engineers who are curious and take initiative.

What We're Looking For

  • Typically 5+ years building systems at high-growth companies

  • Strong familiarity with web development, relational databases, and distributed systems

  • Experience with AI agents, data pipelines, mission-critical systems (e.g. fintech), or complex workflow engines is a strong plus

  • Loves in-person culture, we are 5 days a week in office, location near Union Station / King street

  • Cares deeply about culture
