Our Team:
Semtech’s NPI (New Product Introduction) Product Engineering Team is a group of passionate and talented engineers that are the central engineering function for the development of new products, involved from product concept to end of-life, working with all internal cross-functional teams. The team is responsible for test coverage, yield optimization, product characterization, cost of product optimization, project logistics, and transfer to full volume manufacturing. We enable the delivery to our customers of a fully capable, quality product that meets our business objectives and we have a versatile team of individuals that make this a reality.  

Job Summary:

We are presently looking for a SENIOR NPI PRODUCT ENGINEER to be in our Burlington office. This role is a great opportunity to work with a world-class NPI development team, developing advanced CMOS and BiCMOS data and video communications products at rates of 25-400G.  Reporting to the Manager, NPI Product Engineering, the Senior Product Engineer will ensure product conformance to specifications through analysis of data from automated test equipment (ATE), bench measurements, and design of experiments (DOE). This position is a central engineering function in the development of new products, involved from product concept to end-of-life, working with all internal cross-functional teams, and offering the opportunity to lead programs and make a major difference.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Interact regularly with the Marketing and Design groups to influence the design for manufacturability, design for test, design for reliability, ease of volume ramp and realization of NPI targets such as break-even time, yield, cost and quality

  • Participate in decisions on the development or sourcing of technologies required for new products focusing on cost and manufacturability

  • Review design implementation for manufacturability and testability

  • Coordination of, and contributing to, test and characterization plans and device validation plans, working with the Test Development and Validation groups ensuring overall product compliance and manufacturability.

  • Co-ordinate the product qualification planning, documentation and reporting

  • Actively participate in the Design Reviews and Test Reviews to ensure the testability/manufacturability features were considered and implemented and that test quality and coverage is achieved.

  • Perform capability analysis, margin analysis, correlation studies and yield modeling on new products

  • Review and optimize coverage, test limits and guard banding

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineer with 3 to 8 years of product engineering, test engineering, and/or hardware design experience Note: minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Engineering with 3 years of experience.

  • Proven experience introducing effective methods for product yield and quality improvement and production cost reduction

  • Good decision-making, problem-solving abilities based on analytical/statistical approaches

  • Experience with creation and maintenance of product manufacturing documentation

  • Experience summarizing technical plans and results through reports and presentations

  • Ability to achieve results in a multi project, cross-functional team environment

  • Proven leadership and communication skills in influencing peers and management

  • Proven ability to working with external sourcing and external subcontractors
