The Senior Specialist II, Business Planning will provide analysis/strategic planning support to the Mobile Experience (MX) Business Division, inclusive of market demand, market share, competitor intelligence for both Smartphone and NCME business.
This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, and business management support for Samsung Canada's MX division. Key responsibilities include conducting quarterly, semi-annual, and annual strategic planning, forecasting, and profit simulations. The position also requires analyzing macro trends, global and Canadian market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities. Additionally, the role involves updating and reporting key performance metrics for various products to senior management, distributing marketing assets across the division, and assisting in HQ communications and management planning. The individual will work closely with Leadership team to provide market-sensing reports and other business insights as needed.

Role and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning/Analyses

  • Quarterly/Semi-Annual/Annual Strategic Planning
  • Current month/3CMF forecasting
  • Budget forecasting and profit simulation - Current Monthly Forecast  + 3 Month Forecast, guideline with Business Manager, Carrier Business Manager, Supply Chain Management)
  • Assist in developing short, mid, longer term strategy development
  • Coordinate product promotional plans to align with overall IM plan. Analyze and track all promotional activity and prepare end of program comparative results data
  • Work with all MX Marketing to track product support and expenditures
  • Liaison with corporate planning/financial planning team
     

Industry/Market Analyses

  • Macro trends analyses; Global, Industry and Canadian market trends and identification of opportunity space
  • Competitor Analysis
  • Retail and B2B Market trends
     

Maintain/monitor/report key performance metrics:

  • Update key performance metrics
  • Create reports for Samsung Canada senior management, North America and HQ in Korea for Smartphone, Tablet, PC, Wearables and TWS products
     

Communications:

  • Collect and distribute all product marketing assets including monthly price lists and promotional plans across MX division including leadership
  • Assist in HQ communications and management planning
     

Assist in the general Business Management of the division by:

Working with the Category Business Managers, assist in providing timely Market-Sensing and other Reports to the company, as required.

Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business or technical subjects preferred, MBA preferred

Knowledge:

  • Excellence in Microsoft office skills, especially with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple and simultaneous related projects and programs in a changing corporate environment

    Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:

    • Prior business modeling experience preferred
    • 5 years’ experience in a technology or communication environment preferred
    • Prior experience in supporting an RFP process
    • Experience in IT, Consumer Electronics and/or Telecommunication industry
    • Track record in corporate strategy, strategic planning or marketing analysis preferred.
    • Proficiency in business communication level of Korean language is highly preferred
    • Experience in Consulting, Business Analytic positions, working directly with C-suite level of leadership
