The key accountability is to assist the Assistant Manager, Internal Control to maintain and evaluate internal control over financial reporting (ICFR), which are critical for ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, compliant with applicable accounting Financial Self Control System (FSCS) report, which summarizes financial performance and compliance status, ensuring it aligns with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and reporting monthly FSCS.
  • Assist in management and reporting ICMS (Internal Control Management).
  • Assess and document internal controls: Understand and document the existing controls, including both entity-level and process-level controls.
  • Test internal controls: conduct procedures to test the effectiveness of both the design and operation of internal controls.
  • Identify and report on control deficiencies: identify gaps or weaknesses in the internal control framework and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Ad hoc reports from HQ Internal Control Management Group.
  • Liaison with the external auditor (KPMG) and follow up / complete items on PBC list (prepared by client) – ICFR (KSOX) audit.
  • Monthly G/L account reconciliations.
  • Act as Backfill Accountant for Fixed Asset and Recycling charges.
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Requirements:

Education:

  • University degree (Business Administration, Commerce or Accounting) preferred.
  • Enrollment in CPA is an asset and preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ERP (SAP preferable).
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
  • Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines and month-end overtime with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to plan, organize, collaborate and work on multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and manage competing priorities.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years in an accounting role.
  • Experience with an ERP system (preferably SAP) is an asset.

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $60,000 to $80,000 and reflects base salary only. Actual pay will be determined based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills and experience. This posting is for a current job vacancy.
