What's SELECT?

Founded in 2022, SELECT was born out of our desire for a product to find opportunities to optimize and make managing cloud data costs easier. After a period of research and consultation with other practitioners, we learned we weren't alone in wanting such a thing, so we set about building SELECT. Skipping forward to today, SELECT has over 200 customers, with a product built by a super-motivated, lean team talking to and shipping new features for our customers every single week.

We are fully remote and get together in person twice per year (likely more often in this role with conference attendance).

This Role

SELECT is doubling down on Databricks. We're building best-in-class cost management and optimization features specifically for Databricks users, and we need someone who lives and breathes the platform to help us get it right.

You'll be the Databricks expert in the room—influencing product direction, working directly with our engineering team, talking to customers about their toughest challenges, and sharing what you learn through content and sales conversations.

If you're passionate about Databricks performance and cost optimization, want to see your insights turn into product features used by hundreds of companies, and thrive at the intersection of deep technical work and customer engagement, this role is for you.

What you'll do
  • Shape our Databricks product - Work directly with product and engineering to influence our roadmap, provide technical guidance on Databricks-specific features, review implementations, and test features from a practitioner's perspective

  • Engage with customers - Join sales calls and demos, run technical discovery sessions, conduct workshops on cost optimization, build relationships with technical champions, and provide technical support during the sales cycle

  • Create technical content - Write blog posts and guides on Databricks cost management best practices, develop customer case studies, create documentation and demos, and contribute to sales enablement materials

  • Bridge technical and commercial - Translate customer feedback into product requirements, help prospects understand technical value and ROI, work with sales throughout the process, and advocate for customers internally

Who we're looking for

Deep Databricks expertise - You've built real things on Databricks and understand the platform inside and out—from compute options and cluster configurations to Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and DBU consumption nuances. You have hands-on experience with performance optimization and cost management at scale.

Technical depth with communication skills - You explain complex concepts clearly to different audiences, excel at demos and architecture discussions, enjoy creating content, and hold your own in technical conversations with senior engineers.

Customer-first mindset - You genuinely enjoy understanding user problems, excel at building trust with technical teams, push for solutions that actually work, and are energized by helping people succeed.

Startup energy - You're comfortable with ambiguity, ship quickly and iterate, excited about wearing multiple hats between product/sales/marketing, and thrive in lean, fast-moving environments.
