Job Description

The Solution Analyst owns the front-end analysis that turns an emerging business need into a clearly defined, well-understood piece of work, with the outcome, scope, and rationale established before delivery begins.

This is a Solution Analyst role focused on data and analytics. It brings strong business analysis and data knowledge into the front-end of complex work that spans business functions, reporting needs, and the firm's data platforms. The role suits someone who understands both the business meaning of operational and analytical data and how that data moves, is modelled, and is made trustworthy across modern data platforms.

The role sits within the Tech Solutions organisation as a deployable analytical and subject-matter-expert resource, not permanently embedded in any one team, and is deployed against a pipeline of complex work.

What you'll do

  • Act as the analytical lead for work spanning business functions, reporting needs, and the firm's data platforms, bringing together business understanding and hands-on data knowledge.
  • Conduct front-end analysis of complex work, covering feasibility, data quality, source-to-target mapping, and readiness, before a delivery team picks the work up.
  • Translate business requirements into clear solution intent, working across data, analytics, business, and technical stakeholders to define what good looks like and why.
  • Go and get the information needed to do the analysis directly, querying data, reviewing how source systems behave, and profiling data quality yourself, rather than waiting for others to provide answers.
  • Define and document the data that matters, including data definitions, business rules, mappings, and the contracts between systems that keep data consistent as it flows.
  • Support the movement of operational, analytical, and reporting data from legacy sources onto modern data platforms, shaping how data is structured so it stays trustworthy and usable.
  • Represent technical limitations and implementation realities back to business stakeholders, and business intent back to engineers, translating in both directions.
  • Identify risks a delivery team would not otherwise see, including data gaps, downstream impacts, reconciliation concerns, and regulatory implications.
  • Support the delivery of analytics, business metrics, and reporting that give stakeholders on-demand access to trustworthy operational and financial information.
  • Support adoption readiness where value depends on more than the build, including communications, training, data clean-up, and operational change.
  • Create and maintain supporting product documentation, including data flow overviews, functional narratives, and use cases.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of experience as a Business, Data, or Solution Analyst in financial services, asset servicing, data and analytics, or a comparable environment.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to query, profile, and interpret data directly using SQL, and to reason about data quality and lineage.
  • Demonstrable experience gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements and translating them into clear solution intent and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience working with operational, analytical, or financial data, and an understanding of how that data supports reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Experience with source-to-target mapping, data definitions, and the rules that keep data consistent as it moves between systems.
  • Strong analytical judgement, knowing what to look at, what to ignore, and when analysis is good enough to act on.
  • Credibility with both business and technical stakeholders, with the ability to hold a view under questioning.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel, and strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred

  • Experience with a modern data platform such as Databricks, or comparable lakehouse or cloud data platforms, and an understanding of how data pipelines are designed and documented.
  • Hands-on experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI or a comparable business intelligence tool.
  • Exposure to Workday, particularly where it integrates with finance data flows, is valued given current activity in this area.
  • Experience supporting data platform migration, integration, or master data management work.
  • Understanding of fund administration or fund accounting data.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted analysis and discovery tooling.
  • Experience with agile delivery, and knowledge of process improvement approaches such as Lean or Six Sigma.
