Identity Threat Protection (ITP) with Okta AI, goes beyond traditional login security to provide real-time protection against evolving threats. By seamlessly integrating with your existing security infrastructure, ITP analyzes user behavior and system data to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
We’re a team of full-stack engineers, data scientists, and ML engineers redefining cloud authentication. We aim to build a next-gen security platform that continuously evaluates threats and constructs a comprehensive risk graph. ITP is at the forefront of trust and security by prioritizing risk in authentication and authorization decisions.

The Senior Software Engineer Opportunity
Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its ITP engineering team. This is an opportunity to solve critical security problems. The ideal candidate has experience building, launching, and supporting security products at scale.
You will share our passion and great pride in elegant solutions and will join an engineering team that strongly believes in designing for scale, rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and an iterative process to build high-quality enterprise software. You will demonstrate great aptitude for software engineering excellence and aren’t afraid to be a player-coach.
Our team is fast, innovative, and flexible, with agile release cycles and individual ownership. Here is an opportunity to work on stimulating security projects and emerging technologies, as well as a chance to work on complex security and ML challenges.
What you’ll be doing
- Own and manage the design, development, delivery, and supportability of cloud-native security products - from concept design to final implementation.
- Cross-group solid collaboration and interpersonal communication skills working with a variety of roles, including engineering, product management, design, support, and documentation
- Commit to high programming standards by reviewing code and writing unit and functional tests.
- Experience working with remote teams and individuals while ensuring quality, agility, and velocity
- Participate in rotations to expeditiously unblock customers and make them successful
What you’ll bring to the role
- 3+ years of experience building Java-based web applications
- Good understanding of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
- Experience working in fast-paced software development teams leveraging continuous integration and deployment practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across functio
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
- Experience building anomaly detection systems or risk systems is a huge plus.
- Experience in cloud security, identity, and/or authentication protocols
- Experience with one or more UI technologies such as Angular, ReactJS, Backbone, and Vue.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.
