At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a Senior Software Engineer I, you’ll work to solve problems like: 

How do we create an exceptional capital call experience through software for fund managers and their investors?
How do we build seamless workflows to facilitate the timely booking and payment for a  fund’s new investments on Carta? 
How do we leverage the Carta network to ensure portfolio company valuations are always up to date and accurate?  
How do we ensure all of a fund’s cash activity is real-time in the Carta platform? 


The Team You'll Work With

The Fund Operations Team is building the core “engine” to power our vision of an operating system for private capital. There are immense challenges to be solved, and enormous opportunities if we can do it. You’ll be joining an organization that cares deeply about building delightful experiences for Fund CFOs and LPs, has a deep understanding of the ecosystem, and understands the responsibilities we have to our customers. 

The Fund Operations product and engineering team is composed of experienced R&D leaders that have worked across our product and have a deep understanding of the unique problems we’re solving for our customers. R&D partners closely with a dedicated group of experienced Fund Administrators that have spent their entire careers servicing asset allocators across Venture, PE, and Hedge.


About You

  • You have 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • You have strong technical skills and are an excellent collaborator.
  • You implement systems that are clear, maintainable, and stand the test of time. 
  • You act as an owner, not just a contributor, by taking responsibility for outcomes, pushing through ambiguity, and championing solutions that improve team efficiency and business impact.
  • You are excited by opportunities to both break ground on new projects and provide fresh perspective onto past implementations.
  • You are eager to move fast, but recognize when to build for the future.
  • You may be familiar with some elements of the Carta tech stack (Python, Django, Java, Javascript, React, Postgres, GRPC, Kafka)
