About Aurora Solar

Aurora is on a mission to create a future of solar for all. Our award-winning software puts the power of data and technology into the hands of every solar professional to make solar adoption simple and predictable. Our software has designed millions of solar projects so far, empowering solar companies to sell, design, and install residential and commercial solar arrays accurately, seamlessly, and at scale.

We are a remote-first collaborative team of sustainable energy enthusiasts who love what we do. We’ve been named one of "The Best Remote Companies To Work for in 2025" by BuiltIn.com and have been recognized for the second time as a Certified Green Business (CGB) with the city of San Francisco. We’re in this together to support the world’s transition to solar.

About the Team

At Aurora Consumer, we’re revolutionizing America’s solar future. We connect consumers with top-tier solar installers through the nation’s first real-time solar marketplace. Our passionate, innovative team leverages cutting-edge digital marketing strategies to ignite consumer demand while eliminating barriers from the solar buying process. If you thrive in a collaborative environment that values creativity and impact, you’ll feel right at home with us.

About the Role

We prioritize clarity, transparency, and optionality so homeowners understand the process and financial details of purchasing solar for their home and are confident before engaging with installing companies in their area. We deliver rich analytics on user behavior and site performance, and we’re constantly making changes to improve the experience for customers. This work has a big impact, as we help homeowners adopt sustainable energy across America.

In this role, you’ll be a collaborative partner in shaping the future of our platform. You'll contribute to both front-end (HTML/JS, React) and back-end (Python) development, working on everything from implementing new features and fixing bugs to participating in design discussions and code reviews. You’ll also contribute to our analytics efforts, which involves working with technologies like MongoDB and SQL.

Your Impact

  • Collaborate closely with a team of skilled engineers, product managers, and designers to build and enhance our consumer-facing platform

  • Design, develop, and deploy high-quality code (both front-end and back-end) that directly impacts the solar buying experience for homeowners across America

  • Actively participate in the full software development lifecycle, from feature conceptualization and design to implementation, testing, and deployment

  • Champion code quality through thorough reviews and testing, ensuring the reliability and scalability of our systems

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by proposing innovative solutions, participating in retrospectives, and driving process enhancements

  • Build out our analytics capabilities using tools like MongoDB, SQL, Fivetran, Snowflake, and dbt

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality code

  • 2+ years of experience and strong proficiency in Python

  • 1+ years of experience with React or other front end frameworks

  • 3+ years experience working with relational databases like SQL

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively partner with product managers, designers, and other engineers

  • A passion for solving complex problems and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative, ask questions, and propose solutions

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with MongoDB

  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL tools such as Snowflake, Fivetran, and dbt

  • A genuine interest in renewable energy and Aurora's mission to create a future of solar for all
