The Role
As Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and scaling the backend platform solutions that directly impact millions of users by empowering healthier lives.
You will lead complex projects from discovery to delivery phases, working primarily with Go and MongoDB as part of a small, cross-functional team to deliver features on our roadmap, continually maintaining and improving a specific area of our platform, and contributing to the future of our technology. You’ll be responsible for large pieces of work, as well as setting best practices and mentoring other members of the team.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services, and data storage solutions using Go, MongoDB, and related technologies, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, proactively identifying root causes.
- Actively participate in technical design and planning discussions, contributing to system design and documentation (including ADRs)
- Uphold code quality standards through code reviews, bug fixes, automated tests, and performance monitoring.
- Lead complex projects from discovery to delivery phases, including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering their growth and development.
About You:
- 5+ years experience in building and maintaining high-performance backend systems using server-side programming languages, with a strong proficiency in Go.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB (or other NoSQL database) is essential for data management and storage, including schema design and performance optimization.
- Knowledge and understanding of modern web services architectures (e.g., RESTful APIs, microservices).
- Experience building and maintaining automated test suites
- While a formal degree is valued, we prioritize relevant experience and a strong portfolio of work

- Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures
- Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Where in the band you may land is determined by job-related skills/experience. $107,200—$167,800 CAD
